More importantly, it will help our readers better understand racial & ethnic politics in a global context. Dr. Tuki finds that perceptions of ethnic marginalization and communal, rather than individual, socioeconomic conditions predict support for secession among the Igbo.

The manuscript explores the predictors of support for secession among the Igbo ethnic group in Nigeria and was the first JREP article on ethnic politics in Nigeria. This represents an important step forward in expanding the geographical representation of our content.

Building on past research, the authors argue that we need to move away from categorization to an understanding of far-right politics as political position. Employing a case study of the UK, they demonstrate how far-right politics, often related to race, are not limited to “far-right” parties.
