Friend shared a screenshot with an incredible update: Yesterday, Bichotte Hermelyn said she was working "hand in hand" with Jeffries. Today, Jeffries says he was "surprised" and DOESN'T support her plan to pack the Brooklyn Democratic Party's executive committee! (This is good - the plan is bad!)

Brooklyn Can't Wait wasn't created to "overthrow" anyone. It united clubs around the District Leader Pledge which formalized a shared standard of transparency and accountability. That's what kept us together through disagreements on candidates and what prevents reform from becoming another machine.

I come from a red area and have a lot of GOP-supporting friends and family. None of them, however, are elected officials. I personally would not bar individuals writ large based on their opinions, but individual elected officials? It's a different set of rules than a provate citizen.

The social media post specifically citing the congressman's support for U.S. Israeli policy, as well as the support the coffee shop owner had previously expressed for Brad Lander, Jewish Voices for Peace, and Sen. Bernie Sanders all indicate this was about politics and not Jewish identity.

Really disgusted that a lot of people I follow/respect are cheering on the DOJ's investigation of Poetica Coffee, which is an objectively good coffee shop whose owner made a dumb political statement that anyone with half a brain could tell you would be misconstrued as antisemitism.
