13. Europeans shouldn't feel guilty about using electricity for airconditioning (or reversible heatpumps), it already mostly comes from the sun, especially if you pre-cool. This is good news for hot countries as well. Heat is deadly.

Ah these are imports, I thought it was including the country's own used/secondhand market, that makes more sense. Apologies, think I have already asked that a while back and then forgotten.

Is it intentional to use the 'including used' data for Netherlands and Belgium? (and maybe Finland/Spain)

bsky.app/profile/robb... If you're looking for a data source for Germany then they have yearly and now quarterly fleet data here: elektromobilitaetsmonitor.de/datastory/el... though not in an easily scrapable format sadly.

I think we're going to have to be patient and wait a bit longer unfortunately.

Interesting, and I thought the farmer who had called it in said they looked "middle eastern" although I'm not seeing that reported by any credible sources now.

John is being entertainingly and accurately irate about glowing descriptions of net metering. (He's right, the future of electricity pricing is all about WHEN your electricity is used or generated. In sunny hours it is, increasingly, not worth anything on the market.)

Not to dunk on this but it isn't really true that the Hormuz oil crisis is driving a solar boom. Here's this chart updated to June of China solar exports, showing that the March spike in exports has subsided and was therefore mostly just export tax rebate effects.
Chart from BloombergNEF and SinoImex showing monthly dollar-value exports of solar cells and modules from China, by market, from November 2024 to June 2026. They spiked to $4.5bn in March 2026 because a key China export tax rebate was removed, fell to $3.1bn in April - still high but possibly due to some spillover effects and deadline missing - and then are back to a normal-ish level of $2.2bn in May and $2.5bn in June.

Yes they are investigating, but both his PhD and the PhD he plagiarised are available online, you can check for yourself in a few minutes. Several of his other claims have already been refuted, and he has walked back others.

Model minority stuff (I think I get what you mean although I don’t think that’s the right term either, but I can’t think of another) applies far more widely as I understand it, like to every aspect of that minority’s life, even e.g. traffic infractions, how they dress, etc.

Ah okay I see, yeah I’m not trying to make that argument per se, although there is some overlap. I’m not saying trans people need to be perfectly behaved, but I do think anyone fighting for a cause should consider whether e.g. castigating someone over playing an NYT game is counterproductive.
100
Josh @joshdoug.bsky.social · 31/07/2026
Maybe I’m misunderstanding something but thinking Ken shouldn’t be attacked and thinking purity politics aren’t the answer go hand in hand?
100
Josh @joshdoug.bsky.social · 31/07/2026
Hard to tell if you are just misguided and socially maladjusted, or a 4channer sock puppet account trying to undermine trans causes. bsky.app/profile/josh...

Or maybe you're 12, idk & idc
000
Josh @joshdoug.bsky.social · 31/07/2026
Toxic behaviour like this from you & your ilk hurts trans people by negatively polarising people against trans causes. Maybe you're aiming to hurt trans people and their interests, but if you actually want to support trans people then you should consider whether your behaviour is counterproductive.
100
Josh @joshdoug.bsky.social · 31/07/2026
My position is that negatively polarising people against a cause is bad for the cause, and that people who claim to support a cause should consider whether their behaviour is helping or hurting. If you want to continue undermining support for and hurting a cause you nominally support then go ahead.
000
Josh @joshdoug.bsky.social · 31/07/2026
Another helpful example. This may make you feel good, but is the net effect of this sort of behaviour good or bad for trans people? I think it pushes people away, which hurts support for trans people, and that someone looking to advance the interests of the trans community should think about this.
200
Josh @joshdoug.bsky.social · 31/07/2026
I'm generally supportive, but this rejection of anyone that doesn't toe the line, and the 'if you're not with us 100% then you're against us' attitude goes hand in hand with the aforementioned negative polarisation.
110
Josh @joshdoug.bsky.social · 31/07/2026
Consider the effects of negative polarisation and the impacts behaving like this have on your community.

Great chart updates as always, thank you. Just fyi, California CNCDA chart appears to be wrong, CNCDA reports 17% ZEV share in Q2 which would also align with the energy.ca.gov on the right.

Up to 1440 kW according to the brochure (power-electronics.com/en/mobility/...) but I assume Milence could deploy them with a lower limit of 1100kW.
