Does the health secretary really believe that cot-cams are a deterrent for murder? The Lucy Letby inquiry found that the failure was due to poor understanding of effective safeguarding and a failure to act on concerns. The answer is not technology and more surveillance.

I have long thought that using words that the maximum number of people can understand is best. But that doesn't seem to align with the view of expert or senior folks. I have touristed in a lot of sectors and people seem to work hard to exclude outsiders and over complicate things with words.

I dont see this conversation happening in public. Example, we will merge NHS data with MOJ data to help us understand X and target Y. We will do it because we can. But is there social license to do these things? Nobody is asking.

My concern is data sharing between departments, to increase profiling and surveillance, which is not in A. The public interest and B. The individuals interest. We need debate re: what the public want regardless of 'legitimate use' defences.

A lead producer, in advertising, explained to me how AI is being used by a big global agency and it is way further ahead than I expected. Edits are now constrained by the number of AI credits, rather than the scale of change. And AI Prompt Artist and AI Director are emerging roles.

The UKBiobank data leak is not unfortunate, its negligent. The doctor-knows-best approach to stewarding highly sensitive data led to this and many other leaks and the response of leadership is again disingenuous. I admire the research participants for their loyalty, but they have been let down.

The legal basis for sharing Vaccination Progamme personal health data with the National Crime Agency seems to be a stretch. Anyone agree/disagree? Have the NHS considered unintended negative consequences, because I can think of a few.

I used Taxd to submit my self assessment. It was 20% of the cost of an accountant and very easy. I know they enable MTD processes. While it seems like a pain to switch online, I think in the longer term it will be beneficial. I'm no longer paying an accountant to file anything for me.
