Amidst all the PHP craziness yesterday, #GitLab released a version that fixes yet another remote code execution vulnerability. If you're self-hosting GitLab, go update now.

I wasn't sure if I really need to read this article, and now that I did I can tell you: It's worth it. Firstly, it makes you appreciate the hard work required behind a critical fix like this. But even more importantly it shows how a system of mutual benefit based on trust gets destroyed by […]

The #PHP #Security shitshow train is still running in full force. Already seeing thousands of HTTP requests from known IP ranges connected to #phpshell hitting the firewall. Some requests are still getting through, but luckily they're getting blocked. Interestingly enough, some sites behind […]

Got myself some Mastodon 5.0. I like its design; it's very clean.

Only one client has so far reached out to inquire about their website. Either they don't know, or they have the utmost trust in me. #PHP #Security

Voor mijn Nederlandse volgers: Hebben jullie ervaring met de HomeWizard-accu voor thuis? Ons energiecontract (afgesloten in 2022) verloopt begin volgend jaar en wij overwegen over te stappen naar een dynamisch contract.

Holy crap, that was one of the fastest times I saw a pre-order sell out at Apple. I couldn't get my hands on an iPhone Duo. Maybe later :-)

Doing a motorcycle trip around the Mosel in Germany. These were some shots from yesterday, when the weather was absolute 💩 . Luckily, it should improve quite a bit today. (Yes, I have an absolute unit of a windshield)

Some say cPanel or CloudLinux is expensive, but when I need support, I can reach a capable human within the hour. That’s rare these days. #Wordpress #cPanel

KPN (a Dutch Telecom provider) offers unlimited data, but requires you to get "top-ups" after 20GB. Had to download a few AI models today on 5G. I found myself pretty clever with this one.

Just finished. It's only 80% of the height of my regular iPhone. It feels like a somewhat wider iPhone 13 Mini. I really like it.

Productivity suffered after being unable to install Things 3 on a managed laptop because a policy disallows App Store login. The friendly people over at Cultured Code created an offline license, and now it works. Very happy.

New instance, and I need to test federation, so here's one of my favorite photos of Kaylan (who unfortunately passed away a few months ago). Tuning server processes, so feel free to boost to make it work a bit. #CatsOfMastodon

There's some solid AI-fobia around here on the Fediverse; such a shame. If people use the tooling well, they can do great things with it. #AI #Claude #OpenAI

This is the month toot.community will close, following the initial announcement on July 28. Since then, only 248 accounts have moved to a new instance. In contrast, 1090 people have logged in over the past 30 days. Please let me know if anyone has trouble finding its way through the Mastodon […]

I tried a thing, and I think I succeeded. LittleFedi was released today, and I was already thinking about dropping GotoSocial. I performed an in-place migration of all data, so here we are: same domain, same handle, same content, and same keys. I was able to bring along previous posts, but not […]

@stefano > An officially supported one-off path exists for moving a single-user Akkoma or Pleroma instance onto littleFedi on the same domain, keeping the actor URI and the RSA key pair so that remote servers never notice the switch. It carries the identity, the profile, the followers and the […]
