A 4" long garden spider has made her web on the outside wall of our carport. I am deathly afraid of spiders. I call her Mathilda, Queen of the Nopes, and I give her a very wide berth.
A large garden spider sits upon her web, suspended between the roof and the top of the fence that makes up the outside wall of our carport. The fence is painted white. Blue sky and green trees can be seen in the background.

I bought this prayer candle several years ago to cheer myself up on a crappy day. I lit it for the first time today. I've had a giant crush on Tim Curry since the 70s. I'm sad he's gone, but grateful we all have so much of his outstanding work to watch whenever we need to.

It was a battle that took women generations to win. Even then, many women, esp. women of color, were still denied the vote. #WeTheMen

I am not a fan of summertime or hot weather, but I do love our little garden corners! I bought this house 35 years ago. I could afford it because the yard was a junky mess. It took us years to clean it up, but it was worth the effort. #bloomscrolling

Behind the fence is our ancient Bridal Wreath. The Gooseneck Loosestrife is going crazy! I bought three half-dead, tiny pots of it about 35 years ago. I think they like this spot. It's partially shaded and has terrible soil, but they're obviously not picky.Looking past the Gooseneck Loosestrife to the Rose of Sharon. We have both white and pink. Behind these, they act as a hedge between our yard and the neighbors, running for about 50 feet along the left side. The bees love the blossoms!Rose of Sharon in pink and white varieties. It’s my favorite topic (that was sarcastic by the way.) Is this the day that I explained the job of Minority Leader well enough? Stay tuned. 1/
It seems like it’s time to talk about the job of minority leader again. I swear I just did this, but oh well, more info is better than less.

It’s herding cats. The job can be simplified down to “herding cats.”Dems do not all have the same values or the same way of governing by those values. This is sometimes because we are a big tent with many disparate points of views and sometimes because their district, or state is purple, or even red, and we need to make sure a Dem keeps the seat. And Sometimes it’s a combination of both. That means there is no other member that could convince some members to vote a certain way. You, as their constituent have more power. You can contact their office, and protest in their district and make noise on social media. Their vote is based on their assumptions about their district, so CHANGE THEM. Everyone talks about Nancy Pelosi. But you have to remember, that was when she was SPEAKER, not minority leader.

She didn’t bring anything to the House floor until she had the votes to pass it. That’s not what Leaders Jeffries and Schumer aren’t doing.

When you say “why now?” You are proving why survivors don’t come forward. 1/
Eric Swalwell is not Al Franken. The accusation is not groping, it’s rape.

His survivors are not Tara Reade, for starters, there are FIVE of them who have come forward, SO FAR, not one. Mrs. Frazzled has been trying to get this story out since NOVEMBER, when he announced in the first place. I reached out to Frazz a little less than a month ago, right before she made the initial post naming him. She made that post because the articles still weren’t released and she couldn’t wait any longer. Your “timing” bullshit should fall apart at this point.

She TRIED to get this out before the filing deadline. CNN and San Francisco Chronicle are the ones who waited till now. Waited until after all the hit pieces were making their rounds and getting traction. Maybe that’s because they didn’t finish their investigation till Sunday (that’s when we were put under embargo on the story), or maybe they wanted this widespread dismissal to be the outcome. I don’t fucking know.

AIPAC is bad, but it’s not UNIQUELY bad. Even if you don’t understand that, at least the DNC does. 1/
I want to start by saying, I HATE AIPAC.

AIPAC has been pretty terrible at least since Bibi was first elected, which was my whole life.

I’m a progressive Jew, we grow up hearing about AIPAC the same way Progressive Americans grow up hearing about the NRA. So we’re clear on that? Great.

AIPAC is bad, AND it’s not some boogey monster. It’s not responsible for everything bad in your life personally or our lives collectively or the Democratic party or the government. And when you give it that much power, you are essentially saying this PAC, that is run by Jews, controls the country.

That IS an antisemitic trope. It’s pretty much the oldest one in the book. Jews control the world, the country and the money. And the way people talk about AIPAC is all those things.

So whenever AIPAC is mentioned at all, many people on the left go a bit feral. It’s an easy scapegoat to blame — it’s a bad organization and antisemitism is pretty acceptable in leftist spaces. It also means no one ever questions when AIPAC is used as the scapegoat. One you see the letters AIPAC that’s enough proof of whatever.

Publications know this too, which is why their job is quite easy, especially when it comes to helping divide Democrats.

There are times when I see a narrative come out of nowhere that I have to dispel immediately, before it really gets out of hand. This is one of those times. 1/
Yesterday I started seeing the same narrative repeated over and over again:

“Schumer has the power to remove Fetterman from committees, and if he doesn’t he’s feckless.” Now, I already have my alarm bells going off whenever someone blames Schumer for something. Because, it doesn’t matter if Schumer does something right or wrong or isn’t even responsible for the thing, he gets the blame anyway. But the red warning signs flashed even brighter with this one because it came out of nowhere.

You gotta stop misrepresenting the situation around the SAVE Donald Trump’s Ass Act! And realized that there are many votes that come before the final vote 1/
Okay, before this gets really out of hand, we gotta have a chat.

You’re gonna hear about votes in the Senate on the SAVE Donald Trump’s Ass Act for DAYS.Today, the Senate voted to open debate on this bill. This vote only needs a simple majority, which, it barely got.

Thom Tillis didn’t vote, and Lisa Murkowski voted with ALL Dems, yes, including Fetterman. We are days, if not weeks, away from the cloture vote, which will determine if the bill dies cause it needs 60 votes to pass cloture (which is EXTREMELY likely)

Democrats would LOVE if the bill hadn’t even gotten to a floor debate, and tried to prevent it from doing so, but we don’t hate that it did.
