Easy to imagine how much Warden no. 96136 enjoyed giving the Police Guard Room at Easthorpe Hall (RAF) a bollocking for leaving the door open.

Went to the Eden Camp museum today. They've got this ARP logbook where they kept a record of who they'd warned for showing lights during the blackout.

Delighted to see this month's @wsc.co.uk review the terrific Six Days To Saturday from 1963, following Swindon Town players during the week.
The tone of the commentary is nervously anthropological; one concept the establishment truly fears is a leisured working class. Bobby Woodruff is filmed in a betting shop, a visit the voiceover has decided is "more of a gesture than a compulsive habit" (although suspiciously he is greeted immediately by name by all the regulars).

Correction: 541 Sqn didn't fly operationally on the 22nd due to weather, but 540 Sqn's Operational Records Book confirms that White and Prescott flew their Mosquito over Stettin (/Szczecin) so it'll be them that took those photos.
An excerpt from 540 (PR) Squadron's operational records book from April 1943 showing that P/O W.J. White and Sgt R.C. Prescott flew Mosquito DZ 473 on a photo reconnaissance flight over Stettin on 22.4.1943.

It can be easier to set a pair of compass cutters to a given size to mask a wheel or something, but there's no way you're using those to cut something as small as these ambulance markings; that's where the Dspiae really excels.
A pair of compass cutters, which can be set to dimension by holding them up to a wheel which needs maskingA couple of teeny tiny red cross markings for an ambulance. A little trial and error required to get the Dspiae set to the correct dimension but, once that's done, it cuts lovely smooth, repeatable circles.
