From a soul level, I think it also speaks to an American (societal) culture that values production over people. A culture that disdains the vulnerable or anyone “weak” because they do not directly contribute enough to the bottom line. It’s dehumanizing. And from my theological perspective, evil.

Culture develops around what you celebrate, what you tolerate and what you denigrate. And in the case of rehabbing Deshaun Watson, it’s a specific feature of rape culture in sports. “Think of this boy’s future…”

It was somehow too fast and too slow at the same time. Like the day to day was hard and painful and taxing. But it ended abruptly and felt fast. Get help before you need it. Ask before you’re burnt out. This one was really hard to process: today is the best it’s going to be.
