I heard a cacophony in a tree nextdoor, which turned out to be a couple of Channel Billed Cuckoos trying to get jiggy with it while all the neighbourhood magpies were squawking at them to move on #birds.

Snapped my first rockwarbler. These are the only #5bird that is endemic to NSW. Looks a bit like a thornbill but it hops around on the ground rather than flitting from bush to bush.

An amazing day to be out hiking in the blue mountains. Had the incredible privilege of finding a shelter cave with intact art. Ochre stencils plus black charcoal drawings which I dont want to disclose as they are too distinctive.

Since I am officially working I cant actually watch the NBA playoffs. Am monitoring this graph instead:

Went for a wander on kings tableland, found an awesome camp cave above a great little creek. Definitely needs more exploration.

Found an amazing little spot 15 mins out of Rylstone. No signs in the car park (I guess to keep the morons away) but a distinct track to very well preserved rock art. This is Wiradjuri country.

Went for a walk to check out the upgraded Bowtels Bridge over thrle Cox's river. It used to be called Bowtells Swing Bridge but new version is a lot more stable. Still feels high, long and narrow though!

For todays hike, we followed a trail from Hat Hill out to Bald Head. Views at the end are amazing. Took about 3 hrs return with morning tea. Lots of waratahs getting ready to flower. The only bird that stayed still long enough for me to photograph was a Grey Currawong

Today we did a hike I have been keen to do for a long time, which is to scramble up to the top of the peak which the nearby town of Mt Victoria is named for. There's no real track, just a lot of wombat pads zig zagging up steep scree. The views were worth it though!
