I try not to be a harsh slush-pile editor, but come on. if you don't take the small amount of time to follow our submission directions, why should I give you an extended amount of time reading your pages, let alone how much time I'll spend editing and platforming your work?

Just two more days before we close submissions for our third poetry issue, “After the Fire, the Garden.” Read our guidelines and how to submit here: www.ceteramagazine.com/themed-poetr...
Themed Poetry Call:
"After the Fire, the Garden"
Deadline: August 20, 2026
Cetera Magazine's third digital poetry issue turns toward aftermath. Toward the altered ground left behind by rupture. And the strange forms of life that begin there.
"After the Fire, the Garden" is an issue about what grows after devastation. We're interested in poems that understand renewal as complicated and unsentimental and achingly alive. The fire may be literal or symbolic. Ecological disaster, family fracture, illness, exile, political violence, spiritual crisis, heartbreak, inheritance, collapse.
The garden does not promise that everything has been healed. It is merely what takes root in damaged soil.

Labeling Tim Pool as “moderate” is such bullshit, even for Jubilee. Explicit MAGA partisans are not moderate. He’s invoked the prospect of an American “civil war” dozens of times. He called Ukraine “one of the greatest enemies of our nation.” He doesn’t hold moderate views or support moderates. GTFO
A thumbnail of a jubilee video featuring Tim Pool that says “1 Moderate vs 20 Liberals” and was posted 2 hours ago and has 30k views so far.

The smartest thing Tony cooks up is the realization that identity isn’t something you announce across a bar over a cigarette and a beer. Identity clocks in early, scrubs the pans, gets yelled at in three languages, burns its fingers, and shows up again tomorrow. Johnson treats the kitchen like every good kitchen deserves to be treated. It’s loud, profane, exhausting, hilarious, occasionally transcendent, populated by pirates, philosophers, degenerates, and craftsmen who’d never dream of calling themselves artists. By the time the primordial climax rolls around, the movie has slipped the hook without you noticing. You came for the birth of a celebrity. You leave thinking about the cooks you’ve never thanked over the years. That’s a trick worth tipping your hat to.

I hope TONY makes a billion dollars at the box office, thanks.
Screenshot of a Letterboxd review for the 2026 film Tony by Jon Negroni. The review reads: “Every great bullshit artist eventually runs into someone who doesn’t care about your story, only whether you can keep up. That’s the kitchen waiting for Tony Bourdain. Matt Johnson wisely leaves the greatest hits on the shelf and heads for the dish pit instead, where burnt hands, busted egos, and fish guts carry more dramatic weight than destiny ever could. Dominic Sessa understands the assignment. He doesn’t play a legend in waiting. He plays a skinny kid with expensive words, cheap confidence, and just enough charm to keep digging himself into deeper clam-filled holes. Every lie buys him another day. Every shift silently teaches him something a book never could.

15/ So stop trying to win the debate. Decide what conduct you'll accept, state the boundary once, and follow through. They may change. They may not. Either way, you stop sacrificing your peace to a conversation they've turned into a permanent staging ground.

14/ They'll probably accuse you of intolerance. They may say you're dividing the family. Remember, though, that the division began when they chose a politics built around contempt and demanded that everyone else treat it as harmless disagreement.

13/ Sometimes the most persuasive thing you can say is nothing. End the phone call. Leave the table. Stop inviting them into spaces where they make others feel unsafe. Let your absence be the argument you've already made a hundred times.

12/ To be clear, social stigma isn't even close to a complete political program, but it still matters. Bigotry spreads when it's affirmed, repeated, rewarded, and passed down as "normal." It weakens when expressing it costs people respect, community, status, and closeness.
