There's a building science lesson here. If Gladiator panties last in Mediterranean conditions for thousands of years, perhaps we shouldn't judge modern material longevity against Roman buildings?

Here we have a pup enjoying the fruits of his labor after a hard day's work. 13/10 good for him
a fluffy dog with a tricolor coat has the front half of his body in a large hold in fenced in yard. his hind end is up in the air and his tail is slightly curled. he's hard at work digging the perfect hole.the dog is sitting in his ground hole. it's so deep that the earth comes up to his shoulders. his left leg is resting on the ground and he looks off to the left side of the image. he earned this.

Building Science 101: overhangs help keep your house dry. Roof is about 35' above ground, and is still keeping it dry several fee from the house.
A house to the left with some HVAC units outside. The ground around the units is bone dry but just a few feet away the dirt is noticeably darker due to a pretty substantial storm.Another image of a house, with black brick facade. Around the facade is dry dirt and a few feet away, it's wet soil. In some places the roof overhang extends 8 feet from the wall.

One possible to solution to the Fermi Paradox is the Dunning-Kruger effect. Met some high-confidence idiots the other day and I definitely didn't want to engage them. Maybe we're the universe's high-confidence bunch of idiots.

Netflix’s biggest shows have been losing 30-70% of their audience between seasons 1 and 2. Executives are in a panic because they can’t figure out why, but the answer is probably pretty damn obvious to anyone who’s paying attention.

Does anyone feel like we need more representatives in Congress? Article I says that we should have 1:30,000 yet somehow a law from 1929 supersedes the constitution. I feel like my house rep has too many constitutients to actually understand my concerns.

An important and underappreciated fact of electricity economics: The US average *wholesale* electricity price is ~5 c/kWh, or ~25% of the average *retail* price of ~19 c/kWh. The other ~75% of the electricity prices we pay is about poles, wires, transformers, generation capacity, and utility profit.
