Travelling on the Shinkansen is truly a wonderful thing. I've loved it the couple of times I've been lucky enough to get to Japan. I just wish they made the ticket purchase slightly less complicated, I find that particularly stressful.

The same people that chirped endlessly about COVID lockdowns and "mental health" are pretty fucking silent about this wave of mental breakdown.
Image of a social media post, with a picture of a guy and attractive "female" and the guy posting about taking his "AI girlfriend" to watch a movie. Presumably the picture is AI generated/modified.

This has been quote tweeted with "AI psychosis is a real mental health crisis"

Graydon Carter’s memoir says he wrote an unflattering piece about how vulgar Trump is for GQ. Thin-skinned Donald got employees to buy all the copies. Si Newhouse, noting the brisk sales, recommend that Random House publish “The Art of the Deal,” which led to “The Apprentice.” Hence this presidency.

A more interesting bit of journalism might have included how many people were actually there in the audience. A valuable piece of journalism might have been who are they are and who paid for their ticket.......... (all tens of them.)

It’s not a simulation of a person - it’s a stochastic token generator. A machine. An artefact. AI companies want us to anthropomorphise because then we make less rational decisions about these machines.

It will be insane how much "wore a brown suit" will be pushed towards progressive parties, while openly racist, openly misogynist and openly calling for violence and illegal acts will be shoved under a carpet with "frustrated mums and dads" rhetoric.

I love this discourse about weirdos about their partners and children, because it reinforces exactly why normal people should have nothing to do with them, or their fucked up ideas. They say this like it's a "good thing" to optimise time and effort NOT SPENT with your child.

Just reduces the variance. I think it's a good thing. I don't know how to manage it so it doesn't get dysfunctional. Hard to balance.

It would make it significantly more RNG. Split runs, while somewhat degenerate means that the top guilds entering mythic have pretty much "the same" gear. RNG variance would play a HUGE part otherwise.
