I am writing to you regarding a Facebook post which you made recently on the subject of proposed asylum accommodation in Farnham Royal. I have lived in this constituency since 1975 and I write to you as a resident, a voter, and as your constituent whom you were elected to represent.
With this letter, I want to make it absolutely crystal clear to you that I firmly support and actively welcome asylum seekers as my neighbours. I know that I am not alone. Your constituents will not stand by while you use us as a shield for your anti-asylum rhetoric. Refugees and asylum seekers are welcome in our neighbourhood. You wrote: “I will fight tooth and nail against any asylum accommodation being placed in this location in Farnham Royal, or indeed any other part of my constituency.” I will fight tooth and nail against your xenophobic rhetoric and policies and to assure a warm welcome to those in need who seek a refuge in this constituency. Prompted by your comment, I have made a substantial donation to Marlow Refugee Action and I look forward to actively contributing my time and money to other local charities supporting asylum seekers and refugees in the Beaconsfield constituency.

I find it hard to imagine a more unchristian act than to turn away those in dire need of protection. Jesus was Himself an asylum seeker. I urge you to search your own conscience. We need our politicians from all parties to take a stand against hatred and division; instead, we see you fanning the flames. Know that you do not have the support of your constituents when you do …](https://cdn.bsky.app/img/feed_thumbnail/plain/did:plc:ggzccvhxfar45f23gsiq3ksi/bafkreievfjxb6k3zx4ur6xx7oioul4oaydc7zcytzbawkkwsve34w7ryry)
