I can only imagine that people who can’t work it out from the context have never played any version of the game, whatever they called it locally.

Brexiters should be rejoicing at Burnham’s speech. They can campaign on all the ways Brexit has improved our lives and the fortunes of our country. They can set their case out clearly and with facts for all to see. Bet they can’t wait.

🧵 As front-page headlines go, this has to be one of the most misleading I've seen in a long time It's an out-and-out lie But notice the trick they use to get away with it...👀 *They're* not lying - they're just quoting someone else who is👍🏻 In this case, the leader of the opposition🙄 1/33

@scalzi.com I’m currently re-reading the Old Man’s War series prior to starting Shattered Peace. Just because you might have one - do you have a series FAQ? e.g. Parallels between CU and East India Company - intended or situational?

Dictators have often seen books (other than regime-authorised publications and hagiographies of themselves) as a threat. So glad this man managed to preserve his library from Assad's goons.

I plead with people not to propagate their "it won't make a difference; his supporters love him" gloom. Actually, Farage is on the ropes and he didn't get there by himself. He's there because people continue to believe resistance does make a difference. It's also wrong on the facts. 1/3

I would argue that the bit where Apple Music deletes all your songs from your device but leaves a link to a cloud version that a) Doesn’t work in North Yorkshire b) Is a dance remix of Nutbush City Limits, not the original.

OK I’m retired now but I found before I retired that the efficiency depended how big a job you used it for. “Rebuild these SQL create table statements into a python dataframe schemas” worked well, saved lots of typing and easy to check and test. Rewrite all this legacy SQL code into python” didn’t.

@lbflyawayhome.bsky.social I took my uncle (94) to Mansfield today. Thank you for the exhibition. He trained at Derby College like Harry Wingfield and his uncle was at the RCA with Tunnicliffe. He worked as a graphic artist for the gas board, he loves illustration, family card image attached.
An man standing in front of a wall of ladybird books.A short, old man in front of a display case in a gallery, there is a wheelchair in the foreground. A cartoon of two dogs carrying a cat on a pole. A piece of doggerel above them says

“A huntin’ we have bin’
 A huntin’ we have bin’
We met a great big ginger cat
and we did the b____er in.”

The cartoon is by Roger Bliss from a family card.
