Post 10 books that feature a #Witch for 10 days. #BookChallenge #booksky #Books #Reading #KidLit #PictureBooks Post a WITCH 🧹 The Worst Witch by Jill Murphy continues to be popular in spite of several TV adaptations that change it as completely as possible.....
Book cover of The Worst Witch by Jill Murphy. Black silhouette against a mauve background of a young witch in traditional pointy hat and long robes, with a broomstick that has a satchel with a cat sitting in it hanging on the back. She is looking at a spell book as she walks up a hill.

If you want to support the RNLI best to set up a direct debit. Christmas cards give almost nothing to any charity as do many mass produced calendars. This is why all profits from my 2027 photo calendar will go to Tavy food bank. Giving 5 - 10 % is pathetic imo 🤣.

Post 10 books that feature a #Witch for 10 days. #BookChallenge #booksky #Books #Reading #KidLit #PictureBooks Post a WITCH 🧹 Meg and Mog by Helen Nicoll delighted me as a child. Jan Pienkowski is a favourite illustrator - there's nobody quite like him. These simple pictures are a joy.
Book cover of Meg and Mog by Helen Nicoll and Jan Pienkowski. Deep blue cover with a black and white cartoon image of a witch in traditional dress flying on a broomstick, with a cauldron hanging from it and a striped black and white cat with yellow eyes riding on the back. Post 10 books that feature a #Witch for 10 days. #BookChallenge #booksky #Books #Reading #KidLit #PictureBooks Post a WITCH 🧹 From Dorrie and the Wizard's Spell by Patricia Coombs. Does anyone else have fond memories of the Dorrie books?
Page from Dorrie and the Wizard's Spell by Patricia Coombs. Text reads: "This is Dorrie. She is a witch. A little witch. Her hat is always crooked and her socks never match. The Big Witch is her mother and Gink is her very own black cat. One Monday, Cook was away and Dorrie was trying to think of something to do when the Big Witch said....." Illustration in pastels of a little witch as described in the text with her black cat, standing at the bottom of a staircase, leaning on the banister.

“Love never dies a natural death. It dies because we don’t know how to replenish its source, it dies of blindness and errors and betrayals. It dies of illness and wounds, it dies of weariness, of witherings, of tarnishings, but never of natural death.” — Anaïs Nin, “The Four-Chambered Heart”

My daughter Mary embroidered this bag as an old library record card for my birthday with all my favourite books, the authors and their signatures. You'll notice The Lollipop Shoes by @joannechocolat.bsky.social is overdue because I won't let go of it! Such a wonderful present.
Canvas bag embroidered to look like an old library record card with 'Library of Favourite Books' at the top. Book titles are followed by author's signature and the date is the author's date of birth. There's an embroidered coffee stain on one corner ad an Overdue sign in red on The Lollipop Shoes by Joanne Harris. Other books are: Middlemarch (George Eliot), Bleak House (Dickens), Melmoth (Sarah Perry), Mansfield Park (Jane Austen), The Owl Service (Alan Garner), The Bostonians (Henry James), The Bedlam Stacks (Natasha Pulley), Unsheltered (Barbara Kingsolver), Collected Poems (R.S. Thomas) The Lollipop Shoes (Joanne Harris).Detail of embroidered bag, showing a coffee stain and The Lollipop ShoesDetail of embroidered bag showing dates of authors' birth and a red Overdue stamp.

Writinge about literature ys not undirstondinge a booke completelye and then sayinge somethinge clever. It ys, by contrast, failinge agayne and agayne to undirstonde a booke completelye and makinge the moost descryptive notes possible about the resultes. Meaninge ys a process, not a schoolboy prize.

It is shameful that half the country’s population continues to be overlooked by the international community.

#Pollination #BeeDay #MacroMonday #FlyDay #ECK #EastCoastKin
This macro photo captures a bee dusted in golden pollen as it hovers over a cluster of vivid violet-blue flowers. The bee’s fine hairs, dark eyes and translucent wings are rendered in detail, while bright yellow pollen clings to its body.

The flowers provide a beautiful contrast, with delicate purple petals surrounding prominent yellow anthers and pale stamens. Several unopened buds add depth to the composition, while the softly blurred green background creates a natural, atmospheric setting.

The image beautifully captures a moment of pollination in progress, bringing together the intricate structure of the flowers and the industrious detail of the bee.
