Things chronic pain patients have normalized that are actually insane

Automatically checking how far you’ll have to walk before agreeing to plans.

Bringing meds, heating pads, or other “just in case” supplies everywhere.

Mentally calculating whether something fun is worth the pain afterward.

Being relieved when a test finally show something abnormal because you’re tired of being told everything looks fine.

I'm totally blanking on specific sentences, but the reason I toppled headlong into love with Shakespeare's work is because I couldn't get enough of how good the phrasing felt in my mouth! Still not over it 20-odd years later ❤️

Sometimes writing historical fiction means kicking off a new short story by spending an hour peering at old maps and cross-checking them against Wikipedia articles to determine a dogwalking route.
