Oh, I wish, because this looks awesome. I don't have the budget, though. This is the comic I commissioned the last time I had a budget. (by @succucrazy on tweet site).
Blitzo enters Verosika's apartment and teases her about fish and a plant.Turns out, its a rehab thing. You need to take care of a fish and a plant for a year before you are stable enough to start a relationship.

I mean, I can imagine how that conversation went. "So, Sally, I want to pay to sleep with my wife and to catch you in the act." Sally: "She's hot and I am pretty sure she flirted with me before. Sure, I'm game. How much money and when do you want to do it?"

social media that's bad for minors is obviously bad for adults too. crazy to me that the move seems to be to just accept that and ban minors rather than regulate the obvious design patterns that were put in there on purpose which make it harmful to its users

[bravely] if youre a center left party and you want to protect children online maybe enforce preexisting laws against hate speech and scams rather than banning children just so you wont alienate voters from the Adolf Hitler's Crypto Casino Party you're trying to court

And also decide today how does "Resist now!" action look like exactly (protesting on the street? Marketing? Speaking out publicly? Online?) . Because it doesn't matter if you mark it if you are not going to do enough. @innuendostudios.bsky.social

Oh, that's the game you're going to play? You can judge a single person you are talking with, but judging a whole group of people as irrational for disagreeing with you? That's not the judgement you can make.

John_McDosh @johnmcdosh.bsky.social · 05/06/2026
You are making a decision. You are making a judgment. Your judgment is that a lot of people are irrationaly antiAI. I think that judgment is wrong.

Oh, generative AI that is being pushed by corporations right now is not doing any of that. AI that IS DOING all that has been doing that for the last 15 years or so.

your regular reminder that the national shoplifting crisis was a manufactured moral panic largely engineered by corporations in order to cover up their own mismanagement — and that wage theft is the largest category of theft in the U.S.
LA Times headline: "Retailers say thefts are a crisis level. The numbers say otherwise."

The main point is: At some point, a multi-billionaire could pay 95% of their workers three times more which will help them a lot and still be a billionaire. He won't do that because of ideological anti-democracy reasons. "I know better than tens of thousands of my workers/fellow citizens".

John_McDosh @johnmcdosh.bsky.social · 23/05/2026
On the other side, the way ultra-rich makes money is by subverting democracy and buying politicians. What does a 10.000 or 100.000 new trees mean if you helped elect a politician who is going to (metaphoricaly) cut a million trees a year by pushing pollution agenda?

John_McDosh @johnmcdosh.bsky.social · 23/05/2026
Here is a guy, making billions by underpaying workers or scamming. If we lived in a just society, he would be taxed out of existence and not be a billionaire. He gets to choose how he donates, between planting 10.000 trees in USA and 100.000 trees in India. How to calculate what's better?

John_McDosh @johnmcdosh.bsky.social · 23/05/2026
You have just accidentally hit the nail on the head of why does the latest mega-billionaire ideology of "effective altruism" doesn't work in practice. Billionaire philantropy as a whole has been whitewashing their cruelty. "I'll give to the poor as long as you don't look how I make money"

I call this "A horse in the Senate" maneuver. There is nothing that kills an idea as quickly as someone implementing it badly. You want better public transport? Put a guy that makes the worst public transport in the world in a place that didn't have it before.

We are getting to the friend-zone levels so far thought to be impossible to exist in this universe. Friend-zoned by his wife who wants to marry a different dude and kindly asks him to do all the work needed to make it possible.

You can't really get the same effect in English. Basically, imagine if Q and O are pronounced nearly the same and one character was named Quentin and the other Ouentin. A fly crapping on the page in the wrong place could cause confusion. Marianne and and Maryanne, maybe?

"Are you still paying attention? Well, you should be paying attention!"- Tolstoy, presumably. Even funnier because Volkonsky and Bolkonsky are written Волконски and Болконски in Russian, so it is even more similar, like a single line difference in the name, like between O (letter o) and 0 (zero).

Well of course I would. But there are still some selfish a-holes who wouldn't. The correct analogy is: You press the blue button and you save everyone, even those who would shoot you dead to save their own skin by pressing the red button. Some people are collaborators of autocratic regimes.

In Serbia, when we talk about French, we talk about people who saved and helped our soldiers recover on Corfu during World War I. Then armed and equipped them and helped them win back their homeland.
