Tyrant doodle. Still my favorite monster to draw.

Sharpie drawing of tyrant from resident evil

It’s horrible, the dreams I had as a young artist are gone. Any progress I’ve made is pointless in the face of the mindless acceptance of worthless self sabotaging slop. I try to find hope in any way I can but I fully understand being angry about what the future looks like. I’m angry about it too.

A little Brushbuddy 🍊 #Art

An illustration of brushbuddy from witch hat atelier, a little white creature thats sort of a long smooth squirrel, it has no ears or visible mouth but it does have large eyes, a long tail and little grabby hands. The brushbuddy has his little body wrapped around a tree branch as it reaches down for some oranges that are growing from the tree.

Thank you so much! I went into this piece wanting to draw that face, everything else was secondary. That facial expression is very striking and fun 🤩

Right? Love a good glow. I wanted to get foreground layers to have blur and then clean middle ground and then alt color blurred background ones. I think I spent too much time on the fire 😂 but it was good practice

Thank you! I was really struggling with the fire, I feel like I am always hit or miss with effects like that 🔥

I’m happy to have found this lovely sidewalk cake, truly delicious! I love the curves in your line work, the beard looks so whimsical and flowing

John McDevitt @johnmcdevitt.bsky.social · 10/04/2026

Yeah I wanted this one to be softer and more painterly like I was doing at the time. But I was having a hard enough time with hair and human eyes haha bug shells were beyond me

June of last year. As I was sketching I remember getting really nervous about rendering and psyching myself out of it 😅

John McDevitt @johnmcdevitt.bsky.social · 10/04/2026

Love a good Timelapse! It’s funny I can see in the middle where I completely change gears about how I want to render and start doing a more detailed inking haha all art is a learning experience

John McDevitt @johnmcdevitt.bsky.social · 10/04/2026

Thank you! The character has so many fun details I tried to work in, the shell pattern was the most challenging for me 😮‍💨

You are so welcome! Your vtuber model is so cool! This isn’t the first time I’ve attempted to draw her 😅 just the first time I’ve succeeded. I’m so happy you’ve made a community with vtubing and have continued to be so creative and inspiring!
