Was looking at the Silent Hill Townfall concept art and my jaw dropped. Was back in my hometown tonight so I had to go and take a photo. There are many ways to mock my beloved Coatbridge, but “your home’s so miserable it was used as concept art for a Silent Hill game” is a new one for me

Saw Crisis Actor last night as part of the Dublin Fringe Festival. Loved it! Metatheatre with a rad Brechtian alienation effect. Still a few showings left, highly recommended!

CRISIS ACTOR
You are invited to watch an emergency training demonstration. The gun isn’t real. The blood isn’t real. The pain is a performance. Crisis acting is a real job: performers simulate emergencies so others can train for disaster. But online, the term has been twisted into something darker — a conspiracy theory, a denial of reality, a way to claim that violence was staged. In CRISIS ACTOR, a live demonstration begins to slip. Rehearsal turns into accusation. Performance starts to look like evidence. And the audience is pulled into a world where everyone is watching, everyone is suspicious, and nobody can agree on what’s real. Inspired by conspiracy theories, post-truth politics and internet culture, CRISIS ACTOR is a tense new work about rehearsed violence, collective paranoia and the stories we tell ourselves to feel safe. Created by Eoghan Carrick and Lauren Jones. Performed by Emily Terndrup and members of the audience. This event features smoke machines, strobe lighting and excessive loud noise/music. Supported by: Funded by The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon & Dublin City Council. Developed at the Department of Drama, School of Creative Arts, Trinity College, Dublin. Visited my ma and took her for lunch in the new cafe in Edenmore. After decades of neglect, it's so great to see a bit of money and effort being spent on the redevelopment of that area.

Local saint St. Brendan's feast day today, so here's an illustrated line from the Prayer Of St. Brendan The Navigator, who is said to have travelled from Kerry in Ireland to America a thousand years before Columbus made his journey. Trust in the darkness. Prints: www.ciaraioch.com/artprints/p/...
My "I Will Trust In The Darkness" print against a starry photograph background - the print shows a painting of small wooden sail boat with a red Celtic cross on a white sail travelling into the horizon on a starry night.

There are a lot of problems with the Guardian's engagement-bait "100 best novels of all time" list but I just saw someone say that they're choosing books that no-one reads and I'm wondering if it's possible to actually die from second-hand embarrassment?

Sorry, I should have clarified - I think these are the most nightmarishly hideous characters ever put on film. The technical achievement/fancy visuals I'm talking about is the amount of sheer art assets on display. They worked SO hard to get the film into the ickiest part of the uncanny valley and I
