i'm unfortunately not holding my breath they brutalised a lot of protesters in the past, and seem to mostly get away with it police already telling everyone the kid picked up the grenade (eye-witnesses say he didn't)

teachers/elected politicians have been at the protests to try to calm the police's excessive force firefighters have been joining some of the protests to support the kids (and protest their own budget cuts) but the police are habitually really violent (and smell an incoming far-right government)

the whole this is horrific – kids in schools with leaky toilets, moldy classrooms, broken heating systems, not enough teachers, etc they're protesting all the budget cuts, and the police are coming down on them like they're a threat to national security, delighted to inflict pain on teenagers
