Rob’s choice is #Borbs for today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme; birds looking plump Alternative is #Brown, any bird with brown plumage I’ve gone with the Alt theme. We visited the British Wildlife Centre in Lingfield last year and saw this sleeping Tawny Owl. I just couldn’t resist taking its photo ☺️
A Tawny Owl is sitting on the branch of a tree and is fast asleep with its eyes closed. It has brown and white plumage.

Have a Great Tuesday! 🌲💚🌳 #thicktrunktuesday #trees #forest #ForestFriday #ForestScape #landscape #wildlife #nature #mobilephotography #ECK
The photograph captures a dense pine forest from a low-angle perspective, emphasizing the majestic height of the trees.

Ancient pines: Massive, straight pine trunks with distinctive, textured bark in shades of brown and gray dominate the foreground. Their crowns reach high upward, extending beyond the frame.

Central focal point: Further back, positioned exactly in the center between the large pines, stands a small, dead or partially bare deciduous tree with spreading branches. It contrasts with the straight trunks of the conifers.

Background and undergrowth: Countless other trees are visible in the background, receding into the depths of the forest. The forest floor is covered by a green carpet of moss, bilberry plants, or low-growing shrubs, through which fallen pine needles are visible.

A small wildflower found in the forest. 💙 The name in the description ALT comes from Google. 🦋 #ColorADay #BlueTue #wildflowers #forest #nature #macro #MacroMonday #mobilephotography #bloomscrolling
The plant in the photo resembles sheep's-bit (*Jasione montana*), a member of the bellflower family, though it also bears a slight resemblance to certain species of rampion (*Phyteuma*).

About the plant

Appearance: A small plant with bluish-lilac or blue flowers clustered in dense, head-like inflorescences.

Habitat: Prefers dry pine forests, sandy soils, hills, and forest edges.

Amanita muscaria 🍄 Read some facts in the description ALT ⬇️ #Fungi #fungifriends #ColorADay #RedWed #AlphabetChallenge #WeekLforLookingIn #Photography #forest #nature #Mushrooms #MushroomMonday #FungiFriday #ForestFriday
The photograph shows the fly agaric (*Amanita muscaria*)—one of the most recognizable poisonous mushrooms—in its natural habitat.

Biology and forest relationships:
The white dots are a covering; the white speckles on the cap are not part of its natural coloration but remnants of the so-called "partial veil"—a protective sheath in which the young mushroom sits, much like an egg. As the mushroom grows, this "shell" ruptures, leaving warty flakes on the surface. With age or after heavy rain, these spots may wash off completely.
A forest helper: The fly agaric forms a close mycorrhizal relationship (symbiosis) with the roots of trees such as pine, spruce, and birch. The fungal network supplies the trees with extra moisture and nitrogen, helping the forest grow faster and stay healthier.
Animals and toxicity:
A forest treat: While the fly agaric is poisonous to humans, forest animals—such as moose, deer, bears, and squirrels—regularly consume it. Animals use micro-doses of the mushroom to rid themselves of parasites and as a medicinal remedy.

Important recommendations 🍄 Under no circumstances should you collect or consume unidentified mushrooms, especially those resembling *Amanita* species or white death caps. Even the slightest error in identifying gilled mushrooms can lead to severe poisoning #MushroomMonday #Mushrooms #fungifriends
The image shows a mushroom with a broad, whitish or pale yellowish cap covered in small, flaky veil remnants, and a distinct, drooping ring on the stalk; its appearance resembles members of the genus *Amanita*, specifically *Amanita citrina* (false death cap) or its white form.

Possible identifications

Based on its appearance, this mushroom could be one of the following species:

*Amanita citrina* (false death cap) — an inedible or mildly poisonous mushroom with a characteristic odor of raw potatoes.

*Amanita phalloides* (death cap, white form) — an extremely dangerous, deadly poisonous mushroom.

*Amanita citrina* f. *alba* — a completely white variety of the false death cap.

The photograph captures a picturesque coniferous forest landscape bathed in the light of the rising sun.

Composition and details:

Foreground: The lower part of the frame is densely filled with lush fern growth. Most of the fronds are a rich green, though golden and russet autumn hues are already beginning to appear in places.

Middle ground: A young conifer grows among the ferns on the right, while the slender trunks of tall pines rise in the background.

Lighting: The sun sits low on the horizon, filtering through the dense tree trunks on the left side of the image. Its bright light creates a soft glow—with sun flares—and bathes the entire forest in warm rays.

Detail: Resting atop the purple petals is a single contrasting white petal that has fallen from another flower.

Blurred background: Behind the main bloom, small, fluffy lilac-blue flowers (ageratum) and green leaves are visible.

Siberian lakes are particularly alluring at this time of year. Their water—usually cold and clear—seems warm in the rays of the autumn sun. It reflects not only the trees but also the sky, which is gray and overcast. There is silence all around; one can hear a leaf falling.

The photograph shows an abandoned or rarely used single-track railway stretching into the distance under a clear blue sky.

Key elements of the image:

Railway tracks: The rails and wooden sleepers are in the foreground, curving gently to the right and drawing the viewer's eye deeper into the frame. The space between the sleepers and around the tracks is partially overgrown with low grass and dry vegetation.

Surrounding landscape: A dirt path runs along the right side of the tracks, bordered by dense green trees and shrubs. Green vegetation is also visible on the left, while the outlines of buildings or urban structures emerge through the branches in the background.

A September melody of wet streets... 🎶🍁🌧🍂🎵 #mobilephotography #BlueSkyArtShow #autumn
The photograph captures the autumn atmosphere of a rainy day through a close-up of an asphalt road covered in water. Several fallen maple leaves of varying sizes lie on the dark, wet asphalt; their colors range from bright yellow to golden-brown, marked by dark, moisture-induced spots. The leaves appear fragile, pressed against the ground by water droplets. The surface of the puddle is patterned with concentric circles and ripples from falling raindrops, creating a sense of ceaseless movement. The surrounding trees and the gray sky are faintly reflected in the water, adding depth and a melancholic mood to the image.

Every time I see such withered, dead trees amidst a living forest, my heart aches a little. Fires wipe out entire ecosystems in a matter of hours, yet recovery takes decades. Fortunately, the ground below is already coming back to life, but those gray trunks will long serve as a reminder of the catastrophe.
