Happy labor day! Freelancers are forbidden from collective bargaining in the US, and so companies have suppressed labor power and maximized profits by assigning work that would be done by staff to freelancers. This is part of why there are so few actual staff jobs in the TTRPG world in the USA!

Wow. What a thread. The only time I thought about 4 dimensional beings in Ross in RPGs was when I saw them as antagonists in a Mage: the Ascension book. I thought they were too complicated to include. But this is crazy and weird and fun! Very wow!

Love this simple advice. In larp, the similarity to your character helping you relate to them is your vector for bleed, the conduit to fuel your character with your own emotions. And the distance you get from your character by giving them strong opinions you disagree with gives your play tension.

Can we talk about combat in TTRPGs? Does anyone actually like it? I used to DM a *lot* of 5e, and the last campaign I ran I ended up house-ruling that all attacks hit, like Into the Odd. I was really grasping at straws because I was SO sick of slogging through combat.

Yes. I consider myself lucky. Some friends have played my games, partners have tested them. I can talk about them with siblings. I have design friends, play friends and normie friends. I gotta say though, if I can never play with a person, I also don't feel like spending lots of time with them.

TIL: I love playtesting. I used to be terrified, but love it now. I change a bit every time, slowly getting the hang of it. I feel gifted. My playtesters were curious about new mechanics and stories, and generous with feedback. Next up: Write down the text, so I can have sb else run it for me!

Ran the second public playtest of my in-development game "A Mother's Curse" at the amazing playstorming co-organized by @mixuppixels.bsky.social and www.paradice.wien - We had such a blast! Added this time: Play sheets. It worked just as great with the Spindlewheel Deck by @teacabbage.bsky.social!
