The campaign for Lonely Timbers is chugging along nicely so I thought I would talk about the game's origins. This game was originally born from the GameChef competition back in 2017 where we were encouraged to design games around the themes of borders, both literal and metaphorical.

The book of Isaiah goes pretty hard. When we needed some extra verbiage for our larp's black mass, slightly changing the POV worked well.

So it's a 12-player game with a complicated map. I want the player info sheet to present all the info, but allow you to ignore the details if you want to/have to. You can play just using the three bullet point obsessions, OR the text, OR add in the immediate connects, or devour the whole thing.

You play the Danish royal court in 1770 as they conduct a Satanic black mass to preserve the monarchy. Tons of weird, true, historical detail.

If you weren't around after 9/11 in the US it is hard to explain how weird it got so quickly. Fear-based jingoistic paranoid "patriotism" that literally shouted down dissent. The DIY store Lowes handed out these bumper stickers, which, with a little white-out, became WE RIDE. We have not recovered.
