TBF on Jan 6th there were a lot of oddball members of the public walking round a posh place wondering what a bunch of random old stuff might be worth so Antiques Roadshow isn't a zillion miles off.
Photo of the chuffed, behatted Jan 6ther smiling, waving, and carrying a 'souvenir' lectern.

If I'd been asked to decide real or AI I would probably have got it wrong because the hands did look weird to me. I get that holding a little kids hand means you might have your fingers in odd positions but even so this looks like a strange meat amalgamation at first glance (sorry, that bloke & kid)
Close up from the photo under discussion of the left hand of the adult man holding the right hand/arm of the small child. The wrist of the child passes between the little and ring fingers of the man and the effect is very Oswald Cobblepot. The kid's wrist obscures the other fingers giving an impression of two digits the same length as the thumb and a weird spare floating fleshy lump.

Bloody hell no. Have a look at smørrebrød.
Some lovely, elegant smørrebrød which do involve bread plus other foods but are in no way 'sandwiching' anything - it's all just piled on top like some tropical bird is trying to attract a mate or something.

Not a great pic but the first time I've seen a Little Egret up here
A Little Egret, a smallish, pure white, black billed heron. It is standing in water up to the bottom of its thighs.

Do egrets have thighs? Chickens do.

Do you mean this kid?
One of the kids in the video of Charlie Brown & co dancing has sparse spikyish hair and a yellow top. Like it is much closer to the colour of a lemon than an orange. So if this is who he meant then we disagree about what colour is what (although we'd both pick the same kid to represent us so there's obviously no insurmountable distance between us and we can still be friends.)

I was more optimistic than that! (Kind of. Briefly.)
me - So, late spring 2026 is going to be fun.

him - really is

him - i wanna be there for it

me - You can work on a design. I don't promise I will go for it but it would be interesting to see.

him - it will just be Ange's face with two premier league trophies shining in his eyes

me - Sounds fine. Better than a cockerel shitting on a cannon. I'll see what ----- comes up with.

him - yeah i wouldnt do that to a friend

me - Well, let's see what emerges as the preferred option.

me - Would it still be Ange's face if some other manager takes over and does the winning?

me - Can see 90 year old me at the tattooists going "You know, Ange Postecoglu. Aussie, Was at Celtic. Came to Spurs for 18 months in the mid twenties."

me - (Not that I view 90 year old me as something that is likely to happen, mind)

Jolo 𓅬 @jo10.net · 27/05/2025
I have been worrying that I might have promised a friend I would get a tattoo when Spurs won the Europa League but checking back I sensibly only committed to this:
him - when are you booked in for your "we spurs" piece?

me - When they retain the Premier League title.

him - thats a promise?

me - I don't promise to follow your suggested text precisely. But yes, if Spurs win the the men's English Premier League two seasons in a row I promise I will get a tattoo that reflects this achievement.

him - god ive never been closer to being a spurs fan

Alex Norris captured some this "what's in _your_ pants?" weirdness back in 2019 webcomicname.com/post/1876713...
A webcomic called "HIDE" from webcomicname.com where every 3 panel strip ends with the punchline "oh no"

In the first panel of this comic a blob person in a gown and mortar board says "you need to hide your genitals" to two small, unclothed, identically formed pink blob people, one of whom is labelled "vulva" and the other "penis"

In the second panel the mortar-boarded blob continues "but only wear clothing that represents those genitals". "vulva" is now wearing a yellow dress and a string of pearls, "penis" is wearing trousers, and a shirt and tie.

In the third panel mortar-blob is still banging on "whenever people see your clothes they should really be thinking about your genitals", "vulva" and "penis" respond, in unison "oh no".

Mind you, it's a complicated day.
The saying "Thursdays are the new anchovies" is a culinary saying, often associated with the tradition of eating gnocchi on Thursdays in Rome. It suggests that Thursdays have become a day associated with a specific food, just like how anchovies are traditionally associated with specific dishes or flavors.
Elaboration:
Gnocchi Thursday:
In Rome, Thursdays are traditionally known as "Gnocchi Thursday". People would prepare gnocchi, a type of Italian dumpling, on this day, often incorporating potatoes as a main ingredient.
Anchovies as a Food:
Anchovies are small, saltwater fish that are commonly used in culinary preparations, such as adding flavor to sauces, garnishing dishes, or being used in appetizers.
The "New" Comparison:
The saying "Thursdays are the new anchovies" implies that just as anchovies have become a widely known and associated food item, Thursdays have become a culinary tradition in their own right.

The saying "you can lead an AI to answer but you can't make it think" highlights the key difference between AI's ability to provide information and its lack of true understanding or independent thought. While AI systems can generate responses to questions, they do so based on data and algorithms, not genuine comprehension or critical thinking.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
AI can answer:
AI models are trained on vast amounts of data and can learn to recognize patterns and provide answers to questions, often mimicking human language.
AI cannot think:
AI lacks the ability to reason, make subjective judgments, or understand the nuances of human language and context. It doesn't have conscious awareness, emotions, or the capacity for self-reflection.

Probably because it is random but one can't help feeling it isn't. Really hard not to believe that as soon as you close an option off you are presented with the combination that would have sorted it. My best by far of many attempts is:
39 chickens remaining.

The game is played on a 6x6 grid of squares. Each turn the player is randomly? given a 2x1 or 1x2 tile with two chickens from a selection of four possible options - it is possible to have two chickens of the same type on a tile. The tile must be placed on the board in a remaining blanks space. Vertical or horizontal lines of three or more of the same chicken picture are removed, and a new tiles is presented. The game ends when all tiles have been placed (at least I assume it does, I may well never find out) or, as has always been the case for me, no suitable spaces remain in which to place the tile.

One of the pictures depicts a cute chick that is carrying a knife under its right wing for reasons that are not explained.
