9 anime to get to know me my9animes.com/en

001

This still baffles me. I've never seen company try so hard to push people away from using it.

010

Oh wow, I never considered this. I've never seen a company do so much to make fans not use them. This is rake stepping on a new level.

020

That's the rant, I'm done. Just so, so incredibly frustrating. I hate to not own some of Aniplex's / Crunchyroll's titles, but there's too many choices out there to cave in to that kind of extortion.

000

But the Crunchyroll 'pay to play' garbage of locking these shows behind their store for an extra fee is insulting. This is exactly what keeps piracy alive & well, and you can't blame people. This strategy really needs to fail HARD. We do NOT need this becoming a thing in the anime community.

I like the show, & I really do want to own it, but $134 gets me three or four Distokek / Media Blasters / Viz shows that I equally like. Heck, wait for a sale and I can get 15-30 Sentai Filmworks titles that range from okay to great. I get the Aniplex pricing. I don't AGREE with it, but I get it.

Two companies, Aniplex & Crunchyroll, combining their absolutely horrible individual business practices to take advantage of fans as a team. It's like that Predator-arm gif, but for evil. And this for a show that, yes, is still very popular, but has been out for FIFTEEN YEARS.

100

$134 before taxes & shipping. And eBay is the only other place to get it, and they're taking advantage with prices running up to $145 (I don't blame them for cashing in when Crunchyroll created the situation).

100

Nonetheless, I figured I would check to see how feasible it was to get the blu-ray or if there was any chance anyone else had it. It got my blood boiling AGAIN seeing this dumb, dumb decision Crunchyroll made. $120 for a 13 episode box set. Another $14 just for the privilege of buying it.

I know this is already a widely-made complaint, but I'm gonna rant on Crunchyroll anyway. We finished Madoka Magica in anime club the other day. I knew of it, never seen it, loved it. I knew the Blu-rays were gatekept behind the Crunchyroll store, & being Aniplex, expected the crazy high price...

This bat got in through our garage and I was dodging him like Keanu in The Matrix, while also trying to get it out an open door and keep our cats from chasing it. I was army crawling to avoid that thing by the end. No way I was touching it.

I just paid $300 in medical bills, have another $2,000 one now due any day, and just found out today that my car is DOA. He's trying to find an engine (minimum $2,000-3,000) but that's a long shot, so possibly looking a new car I can't afford. I'm at a loss right now of what to do.

Ah, I thought it was because one of the companies involved in making had closed up and ownership rights were a mess because of it. I'll have to go re-read those PRs. :)

sigh. guys. you will never guess what got approved.

It should be. Sounds like there's a mess of legal hurdles that would be too expensive to figure out, so this is probably the last official release, pending a miracle. Then again, we just got a miracle with the art, so who knows!

100

Oh, and does this mean Miyu will now be sold at other retailers since it has art now?

000

Is the slipcover the same art, or different? Just curious if it IS different, if that got approved as well.

100

I genuinely am not sure how I feel about this versus the white cover. It looks great, though! And considering it's likely to never be in print again, this is probably for the best.

I took a three week vacation from work just to save on gas money.

000

I just said this over on Reddit, too! Get some publicity out of this!

Alyson Court was the voice of Jubilee, who also had a couple of roles in Bakugan. Or if it's non-anime-related, she was the voice of Lydia Deets in the Beetlejuice cartoon. Bakugan or Beetlejuice! (I'm not serious about Beetlejuice)

I would love Fushigi Yuugi, but is that a small title? I'm also not sure how the clue would relate, but then again, I am REALLY bad at guessing these.

Kinda wish we would stop losing trees.

000

J.M. Bond @jmbond01.bsky.social · 07/09/2026

Oof, we just got hit with our second major flash storm and we just lost ANOTHER tree. We got lucky; this one could have hit the house but fell to the side, with another tree propping it up. But it's big & heavy enough that we gotta get that dealt with ASAP.

I wish elected officials would stop saying nobody is above the law when we see example after example of the opposite. Their own leadership has been clear they don't want to investigate Trump's alleged crimes.

He IS wanting to win these elections, right? Seems like he really doesn't want to win these elections.

Tonight I finally got to introduce anime club to "Kodocha". They were laughing, so I think they liked it. That's been one I've wanted to show them for a long time now. I'd like to get "Samurai Pizza Cats" on the schedule at some point, too.

I would 100% support a law that says if any digital platform removes your access to media you paid for then they are required to refund you the entirety of the original purchase price. That would solve this whole thing in a hurry.

And my car is about to cost me $1,500. So now that's over $2,800 I was not prepared for. I'm so tired of not being able to keep up, man, just for doing the things necessary to live.

Next time I'll just roll the dice on if it's a heart attack or not.

So I thought all the bills from my hospital visit in May had come in, but I just got another $200 one. Then I logged into my health provider account, and lookie there: another $2,000 bill that wasn't there before. I have government health care. I hate our health care system so, so much.

If you have a Gmail account, you need to read this. Google's AI now scans your emails and attachments, bank statements, tax files, medical letters, all of it. It turned on by default, and there's a class-action lawsuit over how. Here are 5 moves to shut it off, the switch is hidden in two places:

Whoa whoa whoa, hey now... there are jokes and then there are LINES.

000

BTW, there are a few reasons I ran out of bricks from a path that was already there: 1.) They were all spaced apart, not together like this; 2.) about a quarter of the bricks were broken in half; 3.) Whoever put this path together 75+ years ago used WHATEVER they could find. Some bricks didn't fit.

I've officially run out of the original bricks. Next week I'll have to go find some that hopefully match, or at least as close as I can. Outside of some digging, I'm at a stopping point with this project. I'll take tonight & tomorrow to work on ebay, then start rebuilding the sheds next week.
