I appreciate that it's more polite feedback than "I thought it was shit" - which thankfully, nobody has felt compelled to contact me and say! And like I said, I get having strong opinions about how the show should be. But I literally can't do anything with your criticism or notes.

So all this blather to say, because it's happened a few too many times now: even if you preface your criticism with a phrase like "lovely work!" - all you are achieving by reaching out to me directly with negative feedback is making my day a bit worse? So maybe hold off on that.

All that matters to me, though, is that the finished episodes connect with as many people as possible and bring a whole new audience to the world of Sodor. I hope they do for young kids today what they did for me when I was that age. We worked hard to give our stories that kind of magic.

As I mentioned here, all our work is subject to the desires and goals of a Big Toy Company. I truly don't know what the differences will be between the "final" scripts we submitted and the finished, produced episodes will be. Might be a little, might be a lot. I'll find out when you do!

Our primary audience for this is the age group Mattel wanted to make it for - the newest and next generation of Thomas fans - but we did our best to keep long-standing fans happy too. I'm glad a lot of the feedback on the special reflects that! I hope the series does too.

I understand how it feels when characters and a story world are very important to you. While it would be literally impossible to make every fan happy even if I *had* final say and authorial control (I do not - Mattel do), the writers and I did truly care about making our work the best it could be.

90% of the people who have reached out to me about the T&F special have been entirely complimentary, which really is lovely and meaningful! But to the other 10%: all the episodes of the upcoming series are already written and produced. I can't implement your feedback or do anything to change them.

I've taken to saying something along these lines when it comes to people who do this. "Yeah, the knives you stabbed in those peoples' backs make for great footholds to climb to the top. But a pile of bodies isn't a very stable platform, and when you fall, no one's going to be there to catch you."

This is unfortunately not something that is limited to just voice acting. This is an issue in a vast, vast amount of spaces. I've personally experienced it a couple times. Fandom culture is RIFE with these sorts of people. Ones who will shake your hand while holding a knife behind their back.

The moment Luke Skywalker’s X-Wing showed up at the end of The Mandalorian’s second season to save the day, I fully believed the show didn’t respect its new characters and prioritized the fanservice. Book of Boba Fett was bad, Mandalorian Season 3 was worse. At least Andor’s good.

The Book Of Boba Fett turning into Mandalorian season two-point-five mid-way through left me dumbfounded. If you skipped and went straight into season three of Mando, you'd be completely lost. Season three was terrible, made even worse coming almost right after the masterpiece season one of Andor.

Mando worked well because it was its own self-contained narrative. Season two including cameos and some more deep lore pulls was fine, too. But the moment they began using it as the new vehicle for the progression of the Star Wars storyline AND as a springboard for spin-offs was when it truly died.

Season one and two were perfectly fine. The Luke appearance at the end was decent fan service that closed out the arc between Mando and Grogu perfectly well, imo. If they had left it there, I'd have no complaints. But then they walked it back hard, and it turned into The Star Wars Show.
