In an AMAZING TWIST my GP surgery tried again with EMMA, the AI phone assistant, to identical results!
Email I received from my GP surgery

Hi Jack,
We recently carried out a trial of the
EMMA Al telephone answering service to help us explore whether it could improve the experience for patients contacting the practice.
Following feedback from both patients and the practice team, we have decided to end the trial.
Unfortunately, the service did not deliver the improvements the practice had hoped for.

Obviously Badenoch has her own unique brand of this on full display here, but one symptom of the terrible quality of leaders we have across the board at the moment is that senior politicians will not be across the detail of the brand new flagship policy they just announced.

This means Russia might not lose in the East, so the Romanov regime might not fall in 1917. And under that circumstance then maybe they are still there as monarchs even if just ceremonially like in a lot of other European countries.

The thinking here being that Wilson, who won the 1912 Presidential Election, spent a lot of political capital putting out fires calling for the US to join WW1, delaying American entry into the war until 1917. Taft is unlikely to have been so against joining, so we see the US joining in 1915 or 1916.

Thinking about how if Roosevelt hadn't run as a third party spoiler against Taft in 1912, Olga Romanov would be major royalty, possibly a monarch, and instead the arc of history bends towards her being handcuffed to DJ Fat Tony on Channel 4.

Bristol East is so empty of Reform voters that it’s one of only 23 GB constituencies Reform didn’t field a candidate in.

This is one of those things that happens here in the UK too. Right-wing politicians up to even the Labour Home Secretary see me as a fun target for churlish insults because of my progressive beliefs. But we’re told we have to sensitively tip-toe around what we say about the far right. Madness!

Maybe it’s different if you watch the actual film but from reading the plot summary the twist at the end seems to hit that unique sweet spot of both obvious from a mile away and total nonsense in terms of the previous events of the film.

One think missing from IP law in the UK is that you don’t own your likeness, in life or in death. This wasn’t a problem when the only people who might steal your likeness was Spitting Image, but now anyone can make an AI bot of a public figure and journalists will treat it like it’s the real thing

If you carry out the torture chamber LLM experiments by doing all the matrix multiplications and whatnot with a pen and paper, and you produce, like, “ow ow that hurts”, what exactly is the entity that is being tortured?

Because if it doesn’t then surely there’s a huge disconnect between the parents seeing on Fox that she’s evil and in the next breath letting their kids watch her.

Obviously you can make an argument for this or that politician or scientist but this is clearly meant in the context of entertainment. I think Brits and Americans would have different answers. I think from a British side I can make a strong case for Laurence Olivier.

I think about this interview with the distinguished philosopher Conan O'Brien a lot. I actually think this is a healthy way to live your life! www.nytimes.com/2019/01/14/a...
Is this how you want to go out, with a show that gets smaller and smaller until it’s gone?

Maybe that’s O.K. I think you have more of a problem with that than I do. [Laughs.] At this point in my career, I could go out with a grand, 21-gun salute, and climb into a rocket and the entire Supreme Court walks out and they jointly press a button, I’m shot up into the air and there’s an explosion and it’s orange and it spells, “Good night and God love.” In this culture? Two years later, it’s going to be, who’s Conan? This is going to sound grim, but eventually, all our graves go unattended.

You’re right, that does sound grim.

Sorry. Calvin Coolidge was a pretty popular president. I’ve been to his grave in Vermont. It has the presidential seal on it. Nobody was there. And by the way, I’m the only late-night host that has been to Calvin Coolidge’s grave. I think that’s what separates me from the other hosts.

I had a great conversation with Albert Brooks once. When I met him for the first time, I was kind of stammering. I said, you make movies, they live on forever. I just do these late-night shows, they get lost, they’re never seen again and who cares? And he looked at me and he said, [Albert Brooks voice] “What are you talking about? None of it matters.” None of it matters? “No, that’s the secret. In 1940, people said Clark Gable is the face of the 20th Century. Who [expletive] thinks about Clark Gable? It doesn’t matter. You’ll be forgotten. I’ll be forgotten. We’ll all be forgotten.” It’s so funny because you’d think that would depress me. I was walking on air after that.

I don’t want to say the AI bubble has burst but rather you can tell it’s reached maturity because both GPT-4 and GPT-5 had huge hype leading up to release about how they were leaps and bounds ahead of the last model and, in contrast, as a non-user this is the first I’ve heard they’re on GPT-6 now

Many more of the new posters I think miss the mark like this one where the guy in a bright yellow anorak has been on a platform for ages. Does that scream criminal, or does that scream trainspotter?
Poster is a cartoon depiction of a man in a bright yellow anorak on a train station platform.

Text is “Why have they been hanging around so long? Speak to a member of staff or text 61016. If you see any unusual behaviour, see it, say it, sorted.”
