How many more times in my life am I going to have to hear about Dominic Cummings when every article written about him reads like this
"I'm not an 'adviser," says Dominic Cummings, completing the Rubik's cube with a deft swizz of the wrist. "I'm an artist.
Boris is my paint. Britain is my canvas. The Civil Service is a kind of shit easel."
Cummings pulls another Rubik's cube from his bag. "I got a first in history from Oxford," he says, tossing the second cube, now also complete, over his shoulder. "You know the most impostant thing I learned there?" I shake my head.
"Nothing. It was bollocks. All of it."
Again, he reaches into his bag, this time retrieving a large box. "You're a journalist, right? A wordsmith?" I nod tentatively. He slams the box on the table. "Bet you can't beat me at Boggle."
A source close to Cummings said, "Dom is the greatest Boggle player I've seen. He's a total genius." Others warned he won't be around for long: despite his name, he is often
"going", preferring to tiansform organisations then leave quickly. "I call it management blitzkrieg," another source told me. "It's genius".
Downing Street colleagues say he changed the culture.
"Before he arrived, we were just sitting in No. 10 watching reruns of Scrubs in our pyjamas," said an adviser who worked for May and Johnson. "He walked in and bollocked us all, individually, for 15 minutes. It was one of the most arousing experiences of my life. He's a genius."

In an AMAZING TWIST my GP surgery tried again with EMMA, the AI phone assistant, to identical results!
Email I received from my GP surgery

Hi Jack,
We recently carried out a trial of the
EMMA Al telephone answering service to help us explore whether it could improve the experience for patients contacting the practice.
Following feedback from both patients and the practice team, we have decided to end the trial.
Unfortunately, the service did not deliver the improvements the practice had hoped for.

Many more of the new posters I think miss the mark like this one where the guy in a bright yellow anorak has been on a platform for ages. Does that scream criminal, or does that scream trainspotter?
Poster is a cartoon depiction of a man in a bright yellow anorak on a train station platform.

Text is “Why have they been hanging around so long? Speak to a member of staff or text 61016. If you see any unusual behaviour, see it, say it, sorted.”

Discovered something really strange which is that on Google's long-term graph of the FTSE 100 there is a massive drop that lasts for the whole of 2018. What on earth data got messed up to cause this to happen?
Google search for "ftse 100" then I have set the graph to Max. The result is a graph of the FTSE 100 from 12 September 1986 to today. There is a massive drop from about 8000 points to about 1000 points in November 2017, which lasts until the end of 2018 when the graph recovers almost all of its value. Obviously this didn't happen in real life.

This is clearly a major scandal for our highest polling party, so I’m looking forward to all the other news outlets picking up on it any minute now! Unfortunately, the BBC is too busy reporting uncritically Reform’s fantasy treasury numbers tonight.

Specific gripe with Google AI: until a few months ago you could google “train x to y” and it would give you a list of train times. Now, while it still does this for some routes, for many others they have replaced the actually helpful information with the AI telling you to go to a different website!
AI overview for Google search “train Harrogate to Leeds”.

You can check live schedules and book tickets via the National Rail journey planner or compare cheap fares on The Trainline. Trains from Harrogate to Leeds take about 30 to 35 minutes, run directly, and depart frequently throughout the day.

Ah he’s an influencer now is he? He is the Zoella of the racist community, I see.
From a BBC news article

Asked why he did not declare benefits provided by convicted criminal George Cottrell, Farage said: "This is utterly spurious. Utterly spurious.

"I wasn't in politics. I was a broadcaster and an influencer and he helped me go out into the English Channel when the boats started to come, film that and make it into a public issue."

Can you tell I don’t like Boris Johnson?
Except from my essay Brexit and the Boy

We all know the rest of the story. Boris Johnson won the subsequent leadership contest and became Prime Minister, and I remember thinking at the time that well, what a shit, the country is finished. And I was kind of right on that too. But actually the archetype of "guy who thinks he's Churchill but is actually just a twat" is as British as electric kettles for tea, Jam and Jerusalem, or that one song about thirty years of hurt.

Good statement made entirely redundant by the fact the only place No 10 saw fit to publish it is the website where they organise the riots.
Twitter post from Keir Starmer:

The scenes in Belfast last night were shocking and completely unacceptable.
There is no justification for the violence and disorder that we saw threatening our communities, nor for those who encouraged it, online or elsewhere.
It is clear that people were targeted last night because of their background and I will not tolerate it. Those responsible will feel the full force of the law.
I've spoken to the Chief Constable of the Police Service of Northern Ireland to convey my thanks to them and the frontline emergency services for their bravery in keeping people safe. I've also spoken to the First Minister and Deputy First Minister to discuss the ongoing situation.
Appealing for calm must be the priority, and that is what l urge now. We must let the police get on with their work.
