I’ll go first… It was mid pandemic and things were pretty dark. It was around the holidays and I wasn’t going to be able to see my family. Mid-session, a stranger fell out of the closet from behind my therapist and landed between us. She casually shooed them out, then asked me how it made me feel. 😵‍💫

The preliminary sequence from the H5N1 human case in British Columbia has been posted and it is not good news. The virus potentially has a quasispecies at HA residue 226 (H3 numbering). This is bad news because we know that mutations at residue 226 can increase binding to human receptors. 1/

I met N when I was still a resident and she was a med student. I took her under my wing and we became friends. She watched me traverse the difficult path of residency, into fellowship, and then into my first attending job. She then matched into her own residency, a notoriously difficult one.

Note: "The patient is noncompliant with insulin." Reality: The patient is staying at a shelter. She has no control over her food. Insurance won't pay for more insulin for it's too soon for a refill. Her current insulin supply is at her abuser's, from where she just escaped. Stop labeling patients.

Toxicologist here for any fluoride concerns! The amount of fluoride added to water to prevent tooth decay is so minuscule that—no matter your age, size, or health status—you would die from water poisoning long before you could ever even start getting toxicity from fluoride. Fluoridated water is safe
