"How'd they do that?" used to be my first thought when an animated video really caught my eye. Now I check the comments for AI call-outs before the video is even done playing. I can't trust random discoveries anymore.

...I really, really hate having to share space with AI users who pat themselves on the back for the "effort" of typing a prompt, when they put even less thought into the story/joke they felt needed to be told. And the people who praise them for it... Can a big space rock just wipe us out, please?

With the number of pictures I've taken around Disney World's Magic Kingdom - not to mention various walk-around videos on Youtube - I would think a decent 3D photo scanner could recreate the entire park. Or maybe it would, if it would let me manually match reference points...

Saw someone on Facebook showing off a 3D print they'd painted. Source Cults3D link was shared in the comments, after someone asked. Over 100 designs to pick from. Everything good, at first glance. Minimal profile, no social links. Turned on the "No AI" filter, it filtered out EVERYTHING.

...I miss when cartoons were voiced entirely by professional voice actors. Mark Hamill is the only name I've seen attached to this who counts. Seth Rogen is just going to be himself in the recording booth. He refused to even craft a voice for Donkey Kong, ffs. Jim Cummings is available & has RANGE.

Can't help but think about the various side projects I wanted to work on not just for myself, or to entertain others, but also as potential demo pieces. My best guess for most of them is they'd take "about a year" to finish. That feels oppressive and not worth it, anymore...

"yeah, genAI is bad, but other AIs are great at speeding up technical tasks, like rigging" ...I used to enjoy my work. Rigging a character felt like solving a complex puzzle. Every problem solved made me smarter, faster, better. And if something broke, I could "look under the hood" and FIX it.

auto-save in Notepad++ is such a great feature. If you neglect to save your document at all, thinking you'll get to it later, the app has your back. No lost notes on its watch! ...I should really use it more, instead of regular MS Notepad. One blue screen just wiped out days worth of notes.

Pro tip: you don’t have to comm artists to boost and support them. People claim they can’t support artists and creators because they are financially strapped, but they can still boost posts, comment, like, and in general just be supportive! It’s completely free outside of an internet connection ;)

Watching a walkthrough of the new Magic of Disney Animation attraction... "heartbreak" might be the best way I can describe what I felt. The original tour was my favorite part of Disney World, back when that building was a functioning studio. You could see the artists at work. Now it's a museum.

I don't know what the Playstation 6 might be. Things as they are now, I can guess that just the base model will be ridiculously expensive, it'll push a few more polygons than the 5, and be capable of raytracing and AI filtering. ...I hope the best-selling game is a PS1-looking indie title.

What still strikes me is just how desperate WB is. The film series ended over 15 years ago. The follow-ups were shit, like Rowling decided she could just wipe her ass and it would sell. WB doesn't have any other "sure things" besides LotR and Batman, despite their MASSIVE library.

Bicycle manufacturers - "you need special tools to remove & replace certain parts. No we will not tell you which exact ones you need." Guy at the shop told me the rear axle is cracked, but that they couldn't get a replacement. DIY looks like it'll cost me $60 w/ tools that I have to guess at.

Last week - cool mornings, and expected to be 10 degrees cooler at the campground we'd booked. Time to switch to coffee! This week - camping trip cancelled due to rain & other factors.
