Just finished American Dirt. Generally enjoyed it and obviously a great subject for a novel. But felt it could have done with at least one or two more edits to make the writing a bit tighter. The opening couple of hundred pages certainly could have been trimmed down. What did others think?

Recently visited Welsh Patagonia. I wondered what could have persuaded 180 Welsh people to travel halfway around the world to settle in a bleak, unfriendly land. Then I saw a photo of their leader. I think anybody would do anything for this man.
