Quote: "The Living Planet Report confirms that declines in biodiversity continue across the globe, driven by energy, farming and financial systems. These drivers were highlighted in the 2024 IPBES Nexus Assessment, which found that US$7 trillion a year is invested in activities that damage nature. Yet there are reasons for optimism. The Nexus Assessment highlighted 71 response options to drive transformation and generate benefits across biodiversity, water, food, health and climate. Because many response options enable and amplify one another, combinations of these solutions can become positive tipping points that shift whole systems." — Pamela McElwee, IPBES Nexus Assessment Co-Chair.
