Rainy Sunday Afternoon. Another winner from The Divine Comedy. Silly songs, contemplative songs, epic songs, insanely catchy songs. Brilliant. #vinyl @divinecomedyhq.bsky.social

NewDad's Alter is full of catchy, snappy tunes. Fair dues to them for saying its about tough times. They've channelled it in a sophisticated, souped-up version of their earlier work. Rewarding stuff. #vinyl

Exuberant, joyous show by The Beths tonight at The Button Factory. However, a highlight was the much more intimate Mother, Pray For Me, from their latest album. Onwards & upwards, so good to see them progressing over the years, from the Grand Social onwards. @thebeths.bsky.social

Julia Kelly's Still is totally enthralling - I read the c.150 pages in two sessions. A memoir centred on her mother's death, it depicts the life & foibles of a family in incredible detail. Very much a product of their environment, 20th century Dublin. 1/2 @newislandbooks.bsky.social

The Prefab Four. A nickname to be worn with honour. For Pete's Sake, which used to end the shows when I was watching them in black and white, sounding gloriously colourful on the Late Show buff.ly/Gz7sEmP

Superb show tonight in Wexford by The Waterboys. Tight ensemble, doing workouts of the favourites , along with a selection from the current album about Dennis Hopper, all too brief as I'd gladly have heard it in full. Mike's vision is as thrilling as ever to behold. @waterboysmusic.bsky.social

Public housing designed by Herbert Simms in the 1930s looked particularly handsome in tv series Mix Tape, as Dublin posed as Sheffield. Marden Dean was the cinematographer for series.
