I eventually needed a new grill & went w/ a pellet grill. Smoke all the same stuff & more plus chicken thighs, steak, burgers & chops etc. Super versatile & hard to screw up. Now on 2nd pellet grill (Recteq expensive & well built). Use all year long 1hr south of MSP.

I started smoking meat w/ a cheap electric outdoor smoker the size of a dorm fridge. Made a lot of pork butts, half racks, brisket, & smoked chili in it. Can get for about $200.

What meats do they want to smoke? Anything like brisket, pork butts, whole chicken, ribs will need more space & more smoke. Fish, cheese, smaller cuts of meat, small batch sausage/jerky, & fancy gastronomy will work in stovetop w/ proper venting.

The Milky Way over a northern Minnesota river. Looks like there's only one satellite in this photo. That's pretty unusual these days.

A vertical photo of the Milky Way rising above a northern Minnesota river. The river enters the photo in the lower right and extends outwards and to the left. The shore of the river is surrounded by green vegetation. Beyond the vegetation, tall pine trees are silhouetted against the night sky. The surface of the river is calm, reflecting the galactic core, the stars above, and the tree silhouettes.

Above, the Milky Way core rises through a gap in the trees at the back of the river. The bright core shines with a warm glow near the horizon before transitioning to cooler tones tinged with blues and purples above. The faint green and purple lines of air glow can be seen in the sky.

We visited a historic wine cellar yesterday. It was built in 1395. There was a wine press built in 1727, which makes it nearly 50 years older than the country of America. The caves were very cool. And also a steady 60F or so, which was quite nice.

A large wooden wine press in a wine cellar. A heart inlay on the top beam made of lighter wood has the year 1727 carved in it. The wine press is perhaps larger than an American car.

Damn! The curved windows and millwork. 👀 But yeah, the winters are awful. Folks from the Bay Area wouldn't be able to handle the winters. I wouldn't want them to even try. Unless they're really cool.

Happy Confederate Surrender Day from Minnesota where we still have your goddamn flag and we’re not giving it up. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/28th_Vi...

The 28th Virginia battle flag is a Confederate battle flag that belonged to the 28th Virginia Infantry Regiment. Captured by the 1st Minnesota Infantry Regiment at the Battle of Gettysburg, the flag was brought to Minnesota and exhibited at the state's capitol for several years before passing into the permanent collection of the Minnesota Historical Society after 1896 where it has remained since.

Depends on where you are traveling then, I suppose. I didn't see any ICE at MSP, SeaTac, or Denver. I believe specific airports got more ICE agents standing around than others. But, it can change any time.
