I find it funny when people talk about how games are this art form that can make you feel emotions, but then you bring up something like wanting more games to have timers & people will say its bad design "because it makes me anxious" So emotions only allowed through story, not gameplay. An excellent demonstration of what happens when people rely too heavily on heuristics, and it also highlights the attitude that drives them. Someone who is legitimately interested in discussing something won't be deterred by finding out their interlocutor doesn't match their initial assessment.

Its why I now prefer to only argue with people I trust. In most cases, for me specifically, arguing with anyone beyond that is a waste of time.

Part of the reason I’m difficult to argue with is because most people always prepare their arguments for a pre-made archetype of person who’s opinion they THINK is similar to mine So once they find out I am NOT that person, they don’t know what to do lol
