冀蛋人 DANREN 🥚 @ji-danren.bsky.social · 18/08/2026Nixon (much less his personal ghoul Kissinger) seem like the entirely wrong people to open that dialogue. The moment was precarious- Mao still barely alive, the Gang of Four sabotaging anything they could, and Zhou Enlai in the exact right place and time to be receptive and make it happen. 000
冀蛋人 DANREN 🥚 @ji-danren.bsky.social · 18/08/2026the more I read about 20th century history the more astonishing the confluence of events that led to Nixon visiting China. it was such an unlikely move, especially for an embattled anti-communist admin that was deeply tied to Taiwan. How did things possibly align for this to happen in that moment? 100
冀蛋人 DANREN 🥚 @ji-danren.bsky.social · 05/08/2026Trying to learn about 20th century Chinese history can get uncomfortably weird at points because its the only historical context in which Richard Nixon repeatedly appears as an upstanding peacekeeper and voice of reason It balances out quickly when Reagan shows up to shit the bed 010

Down to 5 eggs a day- manageable, but sad. 011
