It’s interesting how a lot of initial backlash that happens when something niche becomes mainstream is fueled by neurodivergent people thinking neurotypicals ruin things. As a neurodivergent guy who almost exclusively likes niche stuff, I find this exclusionary behavior insufferable.

I think we’re all really downplaying how much the popularity of System of a Down has impacted millennials’ politics. I’m re-listening to their stuff again and… well, it’s not exactly subtle. Memorizing their lyrics is basically leftist homework. And they were one of the most popular nu metal bands.

There was a weird era when there was an obsession with forever-games. Random generation was the cheapest, laziest way to do it, which unfortunately means indies flooded the market with glorified gamejam projects; meant to be played for an hour or two, go “that was neat,” and never picked up again
