I would send samples from the sickest patients for full investigation. Viruses, bacteria, fungi, other in between organisms, starting with the basics of culture and microscopy, including electron microscopy.

This should be investigated and the cause elucidated as fast as C19 was… at least. It could be an old or a new airborne pathogen, and if it’s causing pneumonia, it has the potential to cause chaos.

There are many hundreds of viruses and variants of viruses that can cause cold like symptoms… but this is a long illness, with a relapse phase, and it’s causing pneumonia which is a “severe” illness.

This case is a returned traveller from South East Asia, where there are ongoing outbreaks of measles.
The person visited several locations in the Campbelltown area and a location in Concord and Rooty Hill while unknowingly infectious.

I have been a guest at conventions where, during the pre-con walk through, my handler has pointed out the bar and mentioned how some guests are "more fun" and "get asked back," then names only men. Because a lot of female guests aren't comfortable hanging out around alcohol with strangers.
