Here's some more of the sketchiness for everyone. They seem pretty big into NFTs and gatcha tactics. They have like 3 separate sites, none of which you can find on each other but are 100% the same company. The FAQs and everything are scattered among those different sites, not all together.

A screenshot of the company Macroverse's FAQ detailing their goal in using NFTs.

Screenshot from the Macroverse website showing they have a gatcha element for reading comics.

Heads up fellow webcomic artists. A company called Macroverse has been contacting folks to transfer their comics from Tapas to their site. Not only is their site sketchy as hell, they'll create accounts 'for you' using your public facing information and branding to make it look like you're a member

#portfolioday :3 Heya I’m indui! I love creating fantasy art, especially in the theme of gardens/plants, dragons, kitties, and the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest.

a black cat stands in a brick alleyway overgrown with wildflowers. It looks up curiously.

A chubby orange cat carefully steps down a bright, peaceful garden path

a small white dragon lies beneath crumbling gray ruins and a dark pine forest. the moon shines between the pine needles.

a white serpent's body weaves through a manicured garden full of mysterious statues. his face is hidden on the other side of a hedge. A single feathered wing rises from behind as well.

fantasy map illustration depicting a landscape full of ragged mountains up and down, crossed by crooked roads, some on giant stone structures. There is a valley with hills and woods to the south, a desert with wretched lands just east of it, wetlands to the west and east with flooded cities and temples, snowy plains to the northeast with a giant skeleton and tree and an impossibly tall mountain in the northwest whose peak is obscured by dark clouds.

map or landscape illustration in a tarot card proportion, depicting a fragmented land with big stone slabs open up to a ravine below. It has a long stone stairway going down, a strange crystal palace, some trees and desert-like terrain, a giant anthill, a river cascading to the ravine and a pool on a floating islet, containing a giant, desperate eel that doesn't fit well in the pool.

map in a tarot card proportion depicting the bottom of a ravine with a big set of stone stairs ending on an islet on a lake, fed by a stream that comes from the waterfall at the top of the map. the islet has a standing stone circle around a well. there are stone pillars, a forest of regular trees, and forests of giant mushrooms. there are caves at the cliffs at the top of the map and an inn inside one of the shroom forests.

a planar map in the shape of a compass rose. The direction arrows are the four classical elemental planes with the material plane in the centre and several layers of other planes of existence around it.

several items as stock art: books, chests, idols, maps

colourful illustration of 32 minerals competing in the 2026 mineral cup. they from deep red, greem, to blue, white and grey, as we have here rocks, crystals and metallic minerals. azurite, cuprite, quartz, talc, halite, vesuvianite, graphite, pyromorphite, julianite, andalusite are just some of the minerals that compose the list.

A snippet from a larger piece showing a group of people digging up a big stone head and some smaller atrefacts. Some people are drawing. There are goats as well.

A drawing of some items arranged neatly: A tortoiseshell comb, a blue ribbon, a notebook with paper scraps, two keys, a sealed letter, a knife or letter opener (ornate), a majolica bottle with a blue bird design, a pencil with a pencil extender, some sweets, and a string with coins threaded onto it.

A drawing of some things you might find in a kitchen: a tea towel, a bundle of herbs (parsley, thyme, sage, bay), two wooden spoons, some butcher's twine, a cutting board, a big knife, a candle stub on a little plate, a ceramic jar, some cardamom pods, a garlic bulb (bisected).

Three small drawings: One of a shrine under a pine tree with a stone inside, one of a salamander on the forest floor, one of a coastal path with stone steps, two tall trees, stone columns and two hikers in the distance. The overall feel is very late summer to early autumn.

Traditional watercolor illustrators who struggle with clients wanting transparent background files for spot illustrations: Affinity Photo has an "erase white paper" filter. I just started playing with it, but it's kind of magical. Total game changer. I had no idea it existed. Mind blown.

Their announcement feels so hollow to me. They don't say why they have made the decision, and it's like they are trying to sound sad about it, like it means something... But I just can't feel anything but disgust when I read it because it feels so fake.

Gonna expand on this a bit, 'cause it seems Tapas is going down sooner than anticipated. If you plan to migrate to Wordpress, I personally advocate for buying a hosting+domain and install WP yourself rather than getting a site on wordpress(dot)com. wordpress.org

wordpress.org

Blog Tool, Publishing Platform, and CMS - WordPress.org

FYI, from Toocheke. They added a Tapas migration feature.

A screenshot of an email that says

Import Your Tapas.io Comics Into WordPress
You may have seen the news about Tapas shutting down. If you or anyone you know publish there, you’re probably wondering what happens to all of your comics and years of work.

We’ve just added a new import feature to Toocheke Companion (available in version 2.23+) that can move an entire Tapas series into WordPress for you — including episodes, images, thumbnails, and original publish dates.

It keeps everything in order, so you don’t have to manually copy and paste hundreds of pages.
