I am angry tonight. Because tonight ICE shot a New Yorker. They shot a New Yorker while his five year old child was in the car. ICE makes this city less safe. We want them out. Now.

If only there were simple words for these complex concepts... Maybe we could call things mandated by Congress "laws" and doing things in contradiction to laws "illegal". If only we had these words the headline could be "Agency Illegally Diverted $1.4 billion in Science Funds"

Agency Diverted $1.4 Billion in Science Funds Mandated by Congress
The move, affecting about one-fifth of the National Science Foundation’s primary research budget, is the latest sign of how the White House is asserting more control over grants.

Taney remained Chief Justice until 1864, when he died. During the Civil War, he watched impotently as the Lincoln Administration brushed off rulings on habeas corpus, Black citizenship, and, of course, slavery. "There was no sadder fig ure to be seen in Washington," the journalist E. V. Smalley wrote. "He had outlived his epoch, and was shunned and hated by the men of the new time."

You have to wonder if this is intentional. If he wants Rs to go along with rejecting election results, he probably needs it to be obvious to them that democracy doesn't offer them a path back to power.

100%. 2026 election is to stop the bleeding and bring focus to wrongdoing. 2028 is to move forward, and the current court will prevent that from happening. So 2028 primary is all about nominating court packers.

Frustrating dynamic, but this behavior is incentivized by the unreliability of progressive voters. If we turned out the way the Republican base does, Dems would win by huge margins and be able to move left while retaining a majority. We'd also win the primaries that control the party.

Giant squid are elusive - they exist but are hard to find. Unicorns, like election-meaningful voter fraud, do not. Trump is not hunting "elusive" fraud, he's seeking to manufacture evidence for something that doesn't exist.

Biggest problem with parking protected lanes is exactly this! Drivers are less likely to notice there are cyclists behind the parking lane. Better visual indication of bike lane crossing at the intersections can help, but best to have signalized left turns.

Most of the corruption perpetrated by the Trump admin would not be possible without the complicit enabling of the Republican majorities in the House and Senate. The only way to put any check and balance on this out of control regime is to vote them out in November.
