My friend saw it and knows I want to see it really badly and told me to stay off the internet but I haven’t seen any spoilers and I was starting to get the feeling I probably wouldn’t

Hahahaha no but I will say…there’s a lot to love about the new series but I was missing Piper Laurie.

I think like a whole new wardrobe of clothes that I get tailored to look good as hell on me. And probably a custom Sprinter van for my husband.

Carrie was extremely good and worth watching but I did not love the ending. Hopefully that is a spoiler free review.

Most likely, this comes into effect in Oregon in 2028. However, unless Portland changes its policy and allows single stair buildings to use the same code guide that all other multifamily buildings in the city use, the de facto ban on four story single-stair apartment buildings would remain.

Cars are the reason children are not safe on our streets. I think kids should be able to move independently through a city without the threat of being violently injured.

This is drivers doing violence in cars. This is not about the danger of e-scooters, it’s about the violence vulnerable road users put up with every day. A car ran a red light and hit me while I was riding my bike - I would be pissed if someone ran a headline like this about my crash.

I’ve had so many people tell me just to book an appointment early in the day so they’re not running too far over - I’ve had to do the 40 min wait for a 7 AM appointment! It’s so absurd.

I couldn’t figure out why so many PowerPoints at WA APA had such tiny font and it was recently pointed out to me that that is frequently an AI thing. I don’t love that we are moving away from accessibility!

These are children. Children stockpiling guns, children being shot, children finding out they don’t have anywhere they can just be safe. My heart breaks for the families in Bend and Aurora and at the Jewish day schools.

I wish the wealthiest people in Portland didn’t hate the city so much! The City is far from perfect, but business interests are always busting their asses to undermine the people with the best track record of doing good things. www.portlandmercury.com/election-202...

A while ago my husband couldn’t remember the word “goy” and said he was a “gomer” and since then that has become my favorite thing to call people. It’s an insult that means nothing, but if I were to say “look at that gomer” you’d know what I meant.

Pretty key sentence. People have screamed “ITS ENDEMIC” at me since at least 2023, and A) it wasn’t and B) using endemic to mean “it’s fine now” is very, very stupid.
"We were told it was going to be endemic, and people didn't really think that that just meant it was going to keep coming back. It is back," Thirsk said.

Don’t make fun of people for how they look. Not if they’re conventionally unattractive, not if they’re disabled, not if they’re too hot, not if they have had plastic surgery. Just don’t do it.

Meanwhile - layoffs are everywhere! People cannot find jobs! It’s bleak as hell! And the extreme pullback in government spending is exacerbating everything, because communities are broke and the safety net is crumbling.

And the AI bubble is its own thing but it’s having a massive distortion effect on stock markets, construction, and investment. But none of that actually benefits most people. AND it’s driving the prices of everything else up because of GPU demand.

Fuel costs are high because of the war in Iran and we have never as a nation adequately invested in the infrastructure we need to get people out of cars, so people are having to bear the costs even if they can’t afford to.

Homes are not more expensive because that is what people can afford, they’re more expensive because building never actually recovered post Great Recession, and high costs and interest rates are making building even harder now.

The problem isn’t really the 2.6% inflation. The problem is that inflation is being driven by fuel and housing costs plus an AI bubble. The fiscal tools we have to deal with inflation assume wages are rising and the job market is good, but neither of those are true.

Also my cousin had taped Heathers off of the TV at some point in the early 90s and there was a Wash N Curl commercial where a woman says she was thinking of going straight “but then Bill called!” I think of that every time I hear the name Bill.

There was a tampon commercial in the late 90s where they were advertising a box with multiple sizes of tampons together. The woman in the commercial kept saying “ALL IN ONE BAX” with this bonkers midwestern accent. My mom and I said that to each other for years.

Someone backed out of their driveway on a neighborhood greenway without looking and I had to stop suddenly to not get hit. At no point during the entire backing out process did he realize I was there. We need to make it harder to get a license.

I did not fit in with my family. I did not fit in with the kids at school. I started saving up to move out (maybe to Japan) at 5 years old. Everyone was afraid of my dad but I would hold his face and make him pay attention to me. There was never a question.

The lack of daylighting in my neighborhood makes the streets unsafe for EVERYBODY! I just saw a panel about Seattle’s efforts to build more bike and scooter parking, and daylighting corners for corrals was a major strategy! I would love to see Portland do more of this.

Right now Oregon has some of the most permissive abortion laws in the country. It is a haven for people from other nearby states that have become extremely dangerous for birthing people. We cannot risk losing that access at this critical time - our lives are on the line.

I’ve said this before, but even after she became a US citizen my Bubbe was always terrified that she could become stateless again. If we want our society to be functional, I don’t think the govt should be able to threaten citizens with statelessness.

I’m so sorry that men might not pick up books like “Voyage of the Damned” (Frances White), “A House with Good Bones” (T. Kingfisher), or “The Power Worshippers” (Katherine Stewart) because they were written by women. Imagine living such a limited life of the mind!

Anyway, I’ve read way more books this year than any other year in the recent past - a mix of fantasy and nonfiction - and nearly all were written by women. I don’t see why they wouldn’t be as compelling and interesting for men as they were for me.

There’s a genre of video where a man, usually someone’s husband, gets really invested in female-coded reality shows like real housewives. Men love gossip and drama when they have permission to engage in it! I’m not saying that’s all books by women are but patriarchy is so restricting.

My favorite book for most of my life was written by a man, with a female main character. It focused on inner lives and the nature of love. Men do not need to be siloed like this.

Jennifer @jenwith1n.bsky.social · 12/10/2026
Women have been dealing with this our whole lives. Schools can’t include too many female authors or books with female characters or the boys won’t be interested. History should focus on wars and “great men.” Maybe we should be telling boys/men to stop being so small.
