After decades of facial pain that took me to ENTs, dentists, and orthodontists, I finally fell into the path of a neurosurgeon who said, "Are you sure it's not TRIGEMINAL NEURALGIA?" Never heard of it, but got the MRI to check. Reader, it is trigeminal neuralgia.

I'm 2.5 weeks post-op, and I can stay awake all day, do light chores, read, type for up to 4-hours with minimal pain, and digest food normally. So I guess now I just need to write my article, as I had planned to do this summer.

triple discesctomy c3-c6 on the 10th. home yesterday in time for bed. now I'm sofa bound - cannot do the stairs. mom has the crock pot on & pain meds come in half an hour. i'm birning up, but think it's because it's June. How's everyone else? tough to remind myself I don't have to work right now.

Day 6 of EXCRUCIATING shoulder pain that keeps me awake at night and makes me miserable all day. Today doc wrote a scrip for steroids & pharmacist told me to take then at breakfast because they might make it difficult to sleep if I took them tonight. Who sleeps anymore? Not I.

Can we talk about the fact that at the high school where I currently teach in central Texas there has been 2 instances of N*zi vandalism in the last 2 weeks that I know of? Bless the kid who crossed it out, but my class set of annotation instructions:

Sensitive content: hand drawn N*zi symbol on white cardstock. Someone has also crossed the symbol out and written “Bad” next to it with a frowny face.

I’m a complete failure: I earned my PhD in 2024 and the job I was able to get is in secondary (not higher) education. I continue to present at conferences and revise an article for publication while working 60 hours a week for teenagers who can barely write a paragraph.

Why does my depression always come at me when I have days off? I can't handle the slightest change to my routine. I'd rather be at work than have all this time to myself. I lie here thinking about all the things I need to do, and I fail at all of them because I cannot DO them. I'm frozen with dread.

The incessant lower right abdominal stabbing pain, which had admittedly ceased (or at least reduced) for about 15 days, is back to full-time stabbing. At pre-op appointment for scheduled post-Thanksgiving biopsy, I was told that at no point will the doctors be able to visualize the stabbing region.
