the image sent out with the pioneer 10 in the 70s iirc (i wasn't on earth yet ha ha) that illustrates our solar system below two humans, one has short hair, pecs and a dick with no balls - whilst waving (the hand, not da peen) and the other human has long hair, titties and just smooth at the groin. the illustrator was the 2nd of carl sagan's 3 (consecutive) wives, linda. i believe she didn't want to give them clothes not because aliens needed to know a human-pc version of what we look like but because it would be too hard to decide WHICH clothes. linda passed away in 2023, 3 years before shein would buy everlane

in this study i'm trying an airbrushed background (liquid watercolor) to paint the figure on top of.

photo of my easel with a pixel nude figure painting in progress. below the taped-on reference i printed out is watercolor paper with a green airbrushed background that i've started painting black and gray pixels onto. i have a little bottle of water to clean my brush and my palette is wrapped in plastic as i've finished my session for the day

went to the studio this morning and the teacup maker got it off of my wax melter so it’s home now! and then fresh from a successful bisque, a lidded vessel and another wax melter. just need to figure out how i want to glaze them

A photo of three ceramic pieces I threw on a wheel - the first two a loaded vessel and a wax melter. Both of them have a geometrical shape and as successful bisqueware have a kind of reddish pinkish hue. The third, a wax melter i carved a section of into a simple pattern, came from a malfunctioned bisque firing where it got a bit too heated so the clay is speckled.

A photo of three of my glazed pottery pieces on a shelf, ready to go into the kiln. In addition to my pot and enclosed vessel that I mentioned in my original post there’s now a teapot that appears to have the same cream colored glaze around it with some white pasty spackle like glaze on the top half. you can see a whisper of horizontal lines underneath the cream glaze.

glazing pottery is such a wild process - like, i have *some* idea of what these will look like when they come out of the kiln, you have *no* idea. i’ll share results when i get em!
