For everyone hyping up Trump’s speech tonight like it’s going to be some kind of revolutionary proof of election fraud: Why is he saying it on national television and not to a grand jury? Why has nobody been charged with anything? Should be a slam dunk case, right?

I have a couple of comments about the "free speech hero" narrative about Charlie Kirk. First, was Charlie Kirk really notable for supporting the free speech of people he disagreed with? I haven't noticed that, though I could have missed it. /1

There appear to be at least three separately operating heel factions breaking things within the government in wholly different ways right now. There's the Miller-headed immigration one, the DOGE/Elon one, and a Project 2025 OMB one. This dynamic hasn't showed up in mainstream reporting at all.

NEWS A top US Treasury official is leaving after Elon Musk’s DOGE repeatedly pressured him and his colleagues to grant access to the US Treasury’s sensitive payment system. This is the system used to disburse trillions of dollars in federal government spending. Full Story: bit.ly/3CJaekC
The highest-ranking career official at the Treasury Department is departing after a clash with DOGE over access to sensitive payment systems that the US government uses to disburse trillions of dollars every year.
Typically only a small number of career officials control Treasury's payment systems.
Run by the Bureau of the Fiscal Service, the sensitive systems control the flow of more than $6 trillion annually to households, businesses and more nationwide.
Tens, if not hundreds, of millions of people across the country rely on the systems, which are responsible for distributing Social Security and Medicare benefits, salaries for federal personnel, payments to government contractors and grant recipients and tax refunds, among tens of thousands of other functions.

Lee Atwater had a pungent and famous quote about how once conservatives could no longer use the n-word they used things like “states’ rights” to invoke the same spirit. I don’t think it’s an exaggeration any more — if it ever was — to say they use DEI as the n-word.

During disaster events, the right moves quickly to frame the event for political gain. The “DEI did it” frame has been one of their favs for the last few years: the ship/bridge crash, Boeing plane issues, now LA fires and the DC crash. The framing contest starts before the bodies are recovered.
