Someone at work has seeded the hallways with fun little guys. My immediate coworkers don’t understand the joy in this, but I’ve found lizards in various color morphs & a gaggle of pumpkin duckies so far (helped myself to one of the duckies bc they remind me of the beach house’s hidden duck quest).

Absolutely surreal to be presented w/a math problem, have a moment of absolute panic bc you remember next to NOTHING of geometry, & then have an entire brain quadrant activate like a sleeper agent upon reading “parallelogram” Last time I thought about those I didn’t have or even WANT a cell phone.

I work in such a fun building. Email: “Possible issues w/bldg elevator. It may be getting stuck. Was found stopped between floors w/doors pried open. Emergency call button does not appear working. Reminder this part of bldg often has no cell service.” They’re still letting ppl use it. (Never me!)

WIP of an eventual play on words (the wagon will eventually be used for something else, but unfired polymer clay doesn’t melt/react to wood like it does plastic, so until I have all 3 horsies finished I’m just going to let them rest there temporarily)

Had a stowaway this morning! Didn’t see him in the morning darkness, had Mumfra flashbacks when I caught sight of him in the lights of the parking garage. (My commute is all city speeds so he is hopefully not traumatized & enjoys his new digs by the creek. Was very alert as I got out of the car.)

A pigeon is/was nesting in one of the dormant planting boxes on my balcony. (I say pigeon due to the obviously elaborate nest, but haven’t actually seen anybirdie.)

A pair of small (1/2 inch wide, just under 1 inch long) cream-colored eggs rest in a dormant planting box full of potting soil hanging over a balcony railing, in the presence of a few twigs. A rainbow-speckled glass water globe with most of the stem snapped off rests in the back of the box. Due to the elaborate craftsmanship evident in the nest, suspect it might belong to a pigeon or mourning dove.

It’s raining in my office again & I have mild food poisoning. How the hell did I get food poisoning? All I had yesterday was a latte! Did I miss a milk recall? I missed a recall didn’t I? (In which case prob 1/2 the campus & visiting alumni ALSO got food poisoning yesterday.) So, normal workday.

The knob on my washing machine just broke. (Suspect a spring gave out or a piece de-threaded.) No mental energy to open up the panel & try fixing it while the roofing work is still clonking overhead, so I guess it’s 5gal bucket handwashing time. Costs aside, I don’t WANT a machine w/computers. :(

Someone turned the air handler (that caused the catastrophic leaks) back on before repairs were complete & SHOCKINGLY this resulted in leaks to my office. Facilities had to stand on a steel trashcan on my desk & Molly-bolted a plastic recycle bin in the ceiling below the leak to act as a catch.

Some Mad Crabber has poured scented air freshener into the office’s air handlers again. Not sure if this is to mask the smell of mold or test airflow or just uninhibited brain fever but best I never catch sight of whoever’s doing this. Smells like a Sears perfume counter in a fresh portapotty.

Working to restore a scanned digital print from 2006, bc somehow in this household of I.T. Professionals & best-practices adherents, no one can find the original digital photo. So a consumer-grade personal HP print is all I’ve got. Looks a bit like someone overlaid a “rain” animation filter on it.

Saw the graveyard fox again today! Darted up from the creek onto the pedestrian bridge about 50ft in front of me, paused & looked back. Slowed my pace to let them jog well ahead (urban foxes aren’t THAT chill) & lost sight of them. (Photo attempt wrecked by headlights of oncoming car, sorry.)

The air conditioner/handler above me at work iced up over the weekend & flooded (drain pans either weren’t up to the task, or clogged) so it’s been raining in my office all day. My workstation sits in a dry cone of safety but the printer may have seized its opportunity to exit service.

Last week I aggravated an old neck/shoulder injury (keep your feet & knees together when falling out of aircraft, kids, even when it’s accidental) & it’s somehow stacked a continuous TMJ-like tension headache atop the regular pin & I’d very much like to exchange this for anything else please.
