Okay I’m not done but here’s one of the windows (bad lighting, will get better pics in daylight). The new paint absolutely complicates life in both number of coats required & a need to improvise a sectioned palette. (Thankfully folks want bright color fantasy fish vs color-matching actual species.)

I suspect they were stored at an improper temperature they’re so very runny. I have to use whatever the local shop carries bc I was not expecting to paint fish & brought mostly bird colors. Suspect I’ll be cutting the new paint w/some beige from my tubes just to thicken it.

Me: Okay new paint I just bought, today we are painting happy friendly aquatic life in a kids’ room. Paints: Got it boss, gonna be extra liquid & run together on your palette to better render The Horrors. (It’s fine w/more coats I can layer things back to Finding Nemo cartoon levels but YIKES.)

More beach treasures from above the storm tide line! (Also the coin is eagle-side-up in the sand & is a quarter, it’s in the cleaning pot right now but I’ll try to discern the year later. Probably only been in the ocean a month or so, saltwater does a number on coins!)

Taller stilt-legged sandpipers from the attached bath. I ran out of brown almost immediately so they’re a bit more impressionist/fluffy than intended, but the owner likes them so it’s all good!

This room was painted in cooler colors, so folks wanted sandpipers. It was more textured than other rooms so the wee birbs look a bit wind-blown or fluffed up.

I was asked to paint more seagulls on the repaired sections of drywall (many cover patches from the old hurricane shutter system), so here’s the new additions to the kitchen/den flock.

Spent some time beachcombing this weekend & the treasures at the storm tide line were amazing! Found 8 pieces of sea glass, a bunch of unusual small shells (not all pictured here but I’ll take photos once they’ve been cleaned), & a nearly pristine intact whelk shell!

A veritable mermaid’s cache of intact shells at the storm tide line, including a whelk, scallops, clam-shells, chunks of reef/seafloor, driftwood, lightning-struck sand, sea glass, driftwood, and even a little lost aardvark (?) carved stone figurine missing its tail.

(Okay I am kidding, the actual ghosts are said to be in the corridors behind me in this image & at least one of them is reportedly a jerk.) In reality, it’s just that a panel of lights are out (this happens & we have to wait for the guy w/a key), & the timely arrival of some new Spooky Little Guys!

Guys, think I saw one of the fabled Hospital Point ghosts this morning! Look, it’s right there in the upper right, above the message board!

Whoever is seeding the Fun Little Guys along the office hallways & connecting bridges has added some jack-o-lanterns & pugs? wombats? to the mix! Heard from a dept w/more-fun ppl in it that this is a lighthearted game & the more we love them around, the more will be brought in. Yay!

Someone at work has seeded the hallways with fun little guys. My immediate coworkers don’t understand the joy in this, but I’ve found lizards in various color morphs & a gaggle of pumpkin duckies so far (helped myself to one of the duckies bc they remind me of the beach house’s hidden duck quest).

(At least this elevator is close enough to offices that someone’s likely to hear you banging on the doors within the hour if it gets stuck. Our old bldg had it outside the stairwell so multiple times ppl got stuck until folks on lunch break or leaving for the day walked by!)

WIP of an eventual play on words (the wagon will eventually be used for something else, but unfired polymer clay doesn’t melt/react to wood like it does plastic, so until I have all 3 horsies finished I’m just going to let them rest there temporarily)

Had a stowaway this morning! Didn’t see him in the morning darkness, had Mumfra flashbacks when I caught sight of him in the lights of the parking garage. (My commute is all city speeds so he is hopefully not traumatized & enjoys his new digs by the creek. Was very alert as I got out of the car.)

A pigeon is/was nesting in one of the dormant planting boxes on my balcony. (I say pigeon due to the obviously elaborate nest, but haven’t actually seen anybirdie.)

A pair of small (1/2 inch wide, just under 1 inch long) cream-colored eggs rest in a dormant planting box full of potting soil hanging over a balcony railing, in the presence of a few twigs. A rainbow-speckled glass water globe with most of the stem snapped off rests in the back of the box. Due to the elaborate craftsmanship evident in the nest, suspect it might belong to a pigeon or mourning dove.
