There was a prompt on here a bit ago about potential pitches for a JAWS 5 and it got me thinking. What makes a JAWS movie a JAWS movie. It's more than just a shark, even a really big shark. Lots of other movies with those. A JAWS movie has to have a Brody in it, doesn't it?

If someone asked me who’s the greatest living director still working today, I’d answer Steven Spielberg without hesitation. But Spielberg has movies like The Terminal, Ready Player One, and 1941 in his oeuvre. Martin Scorsese has his misses, but nothing on the level of those 3.

I am going through Bram Stoker’s earliest notes on DRACULA today - they include a list of the powers and features of the Count (then named “Wampyr” before Stoker stumbled on “Dracula”), many of which are never elucidated in the book…
