Republicans Don’t Know Ball Update: A hockey blogger asked the two Michigan Senate candidates for statements on the Red Wings. Rogers: blah blah Michigan loves the Red Wings El-Sayed: angry rant about how the cheap owners MUST pay Detroit’s young star defenseman octopusthrower.com/what-each-mi...

"Hockeytown, USA will always be a coveted destination for the world's top players,"
Rogers said. "The Detroit Red Wings boast one of the league's most storied and respected histories, dating back to their days as one of the Original Six franchises.
Few professional organizations can match the tradition, legacy and rpestige that define this iconic franchise. GO WINGS!"

"I was at the game when Darren McCarty took on Claude Lemieux," El-Sayed said.
"The '97 and '98 Stanley Cup championships are still highlights of my childhood. The teams the last few years have been a far cry from the Wings I came to love as a kid. They're stacking losing season on losing season, yet the llitch family's wealth has done nothing but grow.
Michiganders are sick of sky-high ticket and concession prices buying them nothing but disappointment.

"The team holding out on Simon Edvinsson is just the latest example in a long series of ownership prioritizing their bottom line over the team and the fans. Our teams aren't just assets for billionaires, they're part of our culture and heritage. Hockeytown deserves better."

This is such a horrendous take: regardless of how far the Brewers make it they played two very very good teams…

I wasn’t aware they could wear retros in the playoffs: pretty cool!!

Matthew Shepard died on October 12th in 1998, 28 years ago. His ashes were interred at Washington National Cathedral 20 years later, in 2018, because before Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson offered the Cathedral's crypt, his family had no place for him that would be safe from desecration.

I did enjoy the season as a whole…but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t worried about Season 2

This is my favorite kind of response piece: it doesn’t engage in petty insults and straw man arguments. I had a pretty strong reaction to John’s original piece; it didn’t sound like Gruber to me. Lex’s responses have been well measured and well thought out. Good stuff.

I’m really torn John because you have my trust….but the Twitter experience was soooooo lousy. I went full scorched earth, deactivated the account and everything.

I’m still wrapping the brain around it; I definitely enjoyed it! It’s more of a question deciding how much of the film pissed me off to figure out just how I’d rate it. Was great to see Cruise back in action!

Managed to dig in right before they shaved the showings down to once a day 😂

Is Leningrad one of them? 😂

Yeah that was…..a game of football for sure.

You get a Brewers win AND a great finale in Lanterns; what a day for you 😂

100 1

She was going at those slices!

000 0

#Lanterns nailed that finale; I had been concerned that there was too much story for them to do so but by bringing it back to characters, they pulled it off! Great season of television.

If you’re a Padres fan, I don’t know what to tell you. It’s specifically in the rules, and the Statcast data seems pretty conclusive it wasn’t going out. Like, what else is there to complain about! I don’t know why I’m so annoyed by the discourse; there’s no gray it’s very black and white!

130 3

Okay the hate for Miller Park/American Family Field is ridiculous. That roof has never been an issue previously, it’s allowed a team based in Wisconsin to actually play its games in lousy weather, MLB has the call on roof open/closed in playoffs, and THE RULES SAY ITS AN OUT!

Is there anyway Flores isn’t hired away after this season? Gotta feel like he’s going to be the big offseason candidate…

My condolences! 😂 EVIL DIES TONIGHT

The television announcers continuing to say it should be a home run when that's simply not how the very black and white rules of the park work is really fucking annoying

Ty France vs Trevor Megill Flyout 💢 Exit velo: 105.3 mph Launch angle: 49 deg Projected distance: 325 ft This would have been a home run at Daikin Park and nowhere else SD @ MIL 🔺 9th

I guess what confused me was they literally stated the rule in talking amongst themselves, and still kept on about it being a home run 😂.

Yes, exactly! Fire them into the sun!

020 2

Seriously, I cannot get over the utter ineptitude the announcers displayed with that fly ball. What’s so hard to understand about the rule!?!

Okay these announcers are horrible, they spent so much time debating whether or not it was a homer

Jeff C @jeff25624.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

It’s kind of ridiculous at this point

Even better, the little man has been watching along with me, and is super into the Big Guy as well! The McD’s toys were highly sought after in this house 😂
