WE FINALLY DID IT First to 1000 Bo3 draft trophies recorded on 17lands! Congrats on fellow frenchie mormegil for making it so incredibly close, I had to rack up 3 trophies/day for the last month, pretty much, and 4 on the very last day to edge him out.

This is the top of the 17Lands Traditional Draft Leaderboard, showing my exactly 1000 trophies (winrate: 80,0%) to mormegil's 999.

I've refrained from commenting on the HoF vote for as long as it was underway. Now that it's over, I feel free to disclose the following piece of information: should I ever get inducted, I owe kebabs to fifty (50) people, so hopefully I can win Worlds again before I have to spend that kind of money.

Signal boost for lost deck from #MCAmsterdam

Well - this sucks. Unpacked my bag and can’t find my tall UltraPro yellow deck box. I have no idea where I could have lost it but likely culprit is the pro tour area on MagicCon. Obvs low chances of finding it now but if someone did - I would be very grateful :(

UB criticism aside, having a bunch of cards depicting the same character makes it so annoying to refer to them. Go Nuts or Hulk SMASH are great card names, why do we have to put up with 3+ different Captain America monikers in the same set?

PT Lorwyn Eclipsed is the one event in my Magic career where the amount of fun I had was the least correlated with my personal results. Of course - let’s get the elephant (elflephant?) out or the room - getting to play the card with my face on it and seeing it everywhere was a big ego boost…

Kai dominated an era when I didn’t play Magic yet. Years later, at Mythic Championship III, I was lucky enough to meet him in person. We cheered for each other in a couple tournaments, up until a memorable match where he outplayed me for top8 in Worlds 2024.

In 2026, when nongames barely exist anymore and every card is a thesis, 50-minute rounds are a thing of the past. There are a lot of match-ups, especially in limited, where you can’t reasonably complete three full games in that time.

As a Magic year, 2025 has been... surprising? With Universes Beyond rapidly spreading and eating at the game's identity, so much that even some "normal" sets (DFT, EoE) begin to feel hollow and disconnected, I still enjoy learning new draft environments and finding cube gems here and there...

I see the chess clock conversation come back episodically and as someone who actually plays competitive paper Magic, it's jarring. Chess clocks CANNOT WORK in paper Magic. There are WAY too many priority passes in a single turn for any two players, however competent, to properly handle such a clock.
