We rode Amtrak's Empire Builder between Seattle and Chicago a couple of times. The delight and excitement on people's faces getting on and off at the Essex station for Glacier NP!

Paid signature gatherers were advertising that it was an income tax on everyone to get the initiative on the ballot. I stopped and asked one whether the average person was really going to pay this tax. He nervously said, “Uh, eventually.” They were lying before this even got out of the gate.

Every person running on the Dem side can say: 1. The GOP controls all branches of government. 2. Are you happy with how things are going? 3. Vote blue. 4. What do you have to lose? [use Trump's own words against him]. The end. lol.

I misread it as The Decorative Gourd Themes and was perplexed by the large cylindrical metallic object engraved with "It's decorative gourd season, motherfuckers" statuesquely standing in an autumnal park. Then I clicked the link and realized it is a Thermos www.mcsweeneys.net/articles/its...
Pretty much what the post says. At the bottom it says in a fancy script: "The Quarterly Subscription/Gourd Thermos Combo" along with an orange cover titled Obey In Advance

Caught a glimpse of Mount Rainier while driving up White Pass this morning. Always a shock this time of year to see so much more exposed rock and smaller and thinner glaciers than even 30 years ago. Mount Rainier National Park #nationalparks #climatechange #glaciers #mountains #MountRainier
Foreground has shadowed firs framing the side of the photo that lead toward low forested hills below Mount Rainier showing so much rock now and much shorter and smaller glaciers. Blue skies overhead.

It's ok to feel tired & overwhelmed It's good to take breaks Can't do all the things all the time, "some of the things some of the time" is fine! Collective action is a relay race What it is NOT is "get paralyzed & indulge in doomerism, surely that will convince someone else to fix it."

A thought exercise for transphobic Democrats: replace the "transgender" with "Jewish" in the ads and notice how uncomfortable you suddenly get. There is slightly more trans people in the U.S. (0.95%) than German Jews (0.75%) before the Holocaust. Can't you see how dangerous your slippery slope is?
